Even though it clearly wasn't meant to hint at anything, I got very excited when Criterion mentioned Targets on Twitter the other day. Anybody else wish they would release it?

Mine says "delayed" too from B&N. And my first package is still missing in action.

I got into the during the "second and third waves." Mom had the records which I listened to as a little kid in the mid to late 1980s, and the tv show was shown on Saturday mornings on Much Music (Canadian MTV) in the mid-1990s. I never learned to really appreciate the Monkees until my second year of university in 2004/2005. I discovered Head, and could appreciate the more subversive humour that was injected into the show.

Argh, Canada Post isn't making things easy for me. I still think they're having issues, despite claiming that they're all cleared up. I have an Amazon order that arrived on the 4th of July, but they never reported to DHL or Amazon that it was received. My friend, who lives in TO, still hasn't received his B&N order yet either. Normally he gets stuff earlier than me, because he is in TO, and I'm shipping my stuff to Central NS. I'm still missing 5 movies I ordered 2 weeks ago.

To be fair I've had a package from France arriving in 4 days and one from the UK arriving in 6 so I don't think CP are the ones to blame.

I just placed my first order with B&N.
Wings of Desire and Gomorrah.
Let's see how long it takes to arrive.

I know! I have an item that was shipped on the 14th, and two more on 19th from B&N that are still MIA. My first order, which was shipped out on the 6th, didn't arrive until the 21st, while another order that shipped out on the 14th arrived this past tuesday, the 26th. I know B&N likes to delay shipments for Canadians by 2 days for some reason, or at least they have for me. But most of my orders seem to be sent out on an ad hoc basis, and will arrive whenever they feel like it. Also, many of my orders end up being split into multiple parcels. We also can't track the packages because they're done through a broker, and Canada Post has no idea what the tracking numbers they give us are. Do they treat all their customers this way, or is it just us Canadians?

yeah I ordered like 10 movies and they've been split up into like 5 different packages and my High and Low blu-ray still hasn't even shipped yet. All of my items except High and Low shipped between the 17th and 19th so if they don't show up by next week, I'm going to be pissed.

And the fact that you're in TO makes it even stranger. I expect some delays since I'm in NS, but everything usually GOES to TO. For example, when Amazon had its mini-Criterion sale back in April, my friend got his BDs a good 3-4 days before I got mine. His Newegg stuff came the next day, while mine arrived two days later. Obviously B&N works in its own world.

I won't be buying from them again anyway. I gave them a try and they failed to deliver (literally).

I just watched another old film noir from the batch of used dvd's I picked up on ebay, Nicholas Ray's In a Lonely Place (1950). The film is an emotional powerhouse, with Bogart giving his most heartfelt and brooding performance I have seen. I need to check out more of Ray's films.

I would think that this would make a very good addition to the CC if they could get a hold of the rights.

No, it is just B&N. I had problems with B&N on the last sale (e.g. packages lost, slow ship, etc.), so this time I paid the extra for faster shipping. I never received a tracking number from USPS, but got the movies no problem and in a few days.

Thats sucks. I know B&N is really weird when it comes to non-American shoppers about certain things. My mother and I both own Nook Colours. However, she had to buy them from Best Buy USA when she was visiting the US earlier this month, because B&N claims they cannot sell the device to Canadians AT ALL. Not just in their online store, but in their B&M stores as well. They claim it has something to do with the regulations Chapter-Indigo have set up, which makes them "illegal." I can't understand that at all, because Amazon, and many other eBook readers are sold up here with no issues. They would generate so many sales if they opened Nook and Nook Colour sales up to Canadians. Chapters-Indigo has become a pain to deal with, as their prices are high, and they're trying to run a monopoly.

B&N orders to Canadians are just all over the place. Mine shipped on the 13th and I haven't seen it either. For the sale in November I know someone here who waited 3 weeks, called and got a refund, and the order showed up a couple days later..

Haven't seen that one. I really hadn't seen much noir besides Maltese Falcon and third man - assuming those count. But after viewing Kiss Me Deadly, Sweet Smell of Success, and (Japanese noir?) Pale Flower, I definitely want more films of this ilk. Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be alot out there in blu-ray. It would be nice to see Criterion fill that void. It's not just "noir" that's MIA either, but it seems like the entire era of 1930's gangster films isn't represented at all on blu-ray either. I'd like to see at least a couple of key titles released by Criterion. If not Criterion, the studios need to get the ball rolling on these.

I'm looking at TCM noir collection on DVD, "Nikkatsu Noir" from Criterion, and maybe some gangster colletions from 1930's-1940's (Bogart, Cagney, etc). But I'd really love to see more of these get blu-ray treatment. Obviously anything that gets the Criterion treatment is bound to be gold.

It's our evilness that oozes like maple syrup that they don't like about us. that's why our orders with them are screwy.

$8 dollar coupons?!?!

Edit: Where is this coupon?

Also, B&N hasn't shipped Leon Morin yet.

Same location, shipped on the 13th (according to the site), and I too have yet to receive it. Although I'm more patient, as long as it arrives and everything is in great condition I don't mind the wait.

Did one last order that's to be shipped on the 2nd, we'll see how that goes as well.

Anybody know if Criterion plans to release Malick's Tree of Life? That would be awesome.

I predict that it will come in November!
