Since I posted the others, I figure I might as well post this one as well. This is the new image from Criterion's facebook. Most are guessing that it is the outside box for the Three Colors Trilogy:

As for Chaplin, I too would love for The Kid to be next, but since that is unlikely, I guess I will vote for City Lights (only because I have watched The Gold Rush more recently).

The SRP for the two-disc Yojimbo/Sanjuro set is $69.95, and the SRP for the six-disc BBS set is $124.95, so probably somewhere in the middle. Beyond that is just a guess.

F&D is public domain so Kubrick's estate doesn't really have much to say (at least not directly, anyway) about whether it gets any sort of widespread public release.

It's pretty much up to whoever holds the remaining prints now.

Well, its official. The Rules of the Game is part of the November lineup.

Oh, and I'm guessing Three Colors will probably be $80.

I caught Grand Illusions on cable not too long ago which prompted me to get around to watching The Rules of the Game (which had been sitting in my streaming queue for months) but *poof* it had disappeared.

That was frustrating at the time but now I'm kind of glad.

[Show spoiler]and you can imagine my surprise to find it gone - I had only known for months that NF was losing CC streams

Is it just me or is there no way to turn off the subtitles in The Killing? There's no menu option...

You might have to change the audio settings on your player. Not sure.

I just received my copy of The Killing from Deep Discount. For those who are wondering, it took two days after DHL gave it to the postal service.

I don't recall any hints for either (though I'd love Bicycle Thieves).

I stopped the playback, went into the Blu-Ray player's setup options, scratched my head/changed nothing, and started a fresh playback (as opposed to resuming playback) and the subtitles disappeared. Strange.

When I first put the disc in 20 minutes ago, it had asked me if I wanted to resume playback and when I selected yes (figuring it would be expedient to bypass the menu) it started playing during chapter 12 with the subs on.

Janus now has the right to Frantisek Vlacil's magnificent Marketa Lazarova. Hopefully Criterion will do it the justice it deserves.

That's just strange. I think this happened to me once before, although not with a Criterion title.

I was browsing imports and noticed UK got blu-ray releases of Rififi and Pigs and Battleships (and also a recent release of HaraKiri which had already been announced by Criterion for October).

I think that probably increases the chances that Criterion gets their blu-rays out for these relatively soon, maybe not for November but they wouldn't be bad guesses either. I know Criterion may or may not use the same transfer so it's not automatic they are inevitable, but it probably doesn't hurt their chances...

Another UK release that really caught my eye is Touch of Evil on blu-ray, I would like to see a Criterion release of that but have no idea if they could get their hands on it. I just saw this on TCM, great noir, unfortunately I only have SD for TCM so a blu-ray would probably be a revelation for me watching this again...

I was actually thinking of going ahead and getting these all on imports since I could probably get them for the same or less than Criterion editions anyway, but I guess I can wait to see what happens. The main issue holding me up is none of these are region free discs. Even though I can (theoretically) use my PS3 to play them just fine, I'd rather just stick to North American discs since my main player is not my PS3 and not region free...
