Rules of the Game will have one of its supplements replaced?

Makes me wonder if picking up the soon-to-be OOP DVD on the cheap might not be a bad idea.

No hints, really. They've just mentioned them multiple times on twitter and facebook lately.

Did you try hitting the subtitle button on your remote?

There isn't one (Panasonic remote/player). But they went away somehow. Not sure how I would turn them back on if I wanted to; I find it odd that this Criterion release doesn't have a subtitles option in the menu. I'm gonna have to check my copies of Charade or Stagecoach or something later.

Gonna watch Killer's Kiss now. I would rate the PQ of The Killing a 4.5/5. It looks excellent.

Though it's never that easy. I hope we have some total surprises
A dream month for me if these titles are released (and my pocketbook will take a major hit ). I haven't seen "Rules of the Game" yet - guess I'll see if Netflix has it for home delivery.

Criterion doesn't include subtitle options on the menu for English language titles.

They need more Czech films (and hasn't even started with Brazilian films).

Criterion announced on Twitter that they're releasing a new version of The Rules of the Game on Blu-ray and DVD in November.

Sorry if this has already been posted.

Wow, Killer's Kiss is excellent! In fact, I like it better than The Killing! (blasphemy?) The cinematography is a marvel to behold; Kubrick demonstrates exceptional talent for filming and visual style in this debut. The jazz score is excellent in a Taxi Driver sort of way. The climax is pretty riveting as well. I give it a 9/10, The Killing an 8/10. The PQ for Killer's Kiss is grainier than for The Killing, and a few outdoor shots lack the steroid detail we've come to expect/reveal the age of the film, but I really don't mind at all. This is an excellent Blu-Ray to own!

I just finished Killer's Kiss, but haven't watched The Killing yet. Killer's Kiss was pretty great--some of Kubrick's choices are great.

FYI: if anyone is looking for The Third Man, this was posted in the hot deals section. It may already be sold, but worth a PM for that price.

You don't configure the subtitles option on the Panasonic BD player through "setup". You have to hit the "display" button on the remote and choose the "disc" tab and then scroll to the "subtitle" option. There you can choose to have them "on" or "off".

Don't feel bad...I got burned by this too!

Well I don't think I would've figured that out myself, thanks. I will experiment with it when I watch Army of Shadows tonight.

Yeah...let me know how you fair.

I figured it out while watching "The Scarlet Empress" recently and seeing the subs. I hadn't fiddled with the players subtitles option before and finally got the player to stop displaying the English subtitles on an English language film.

How about some Polish films from Wojciech Has, The Saragossa Manuscript or The Hourglass Sanatorium?

I was debating picking up the UK DVDs as it looks like the possibility of a Polish distributor for these films on blu is looking pretty slim. Hopefully, the DVDs will be available for a while with the problems they were having at the Sony distribution center.
