The Shining? Or perhaps Barton Fink? Or some other random film I've never heard of that would fit Criterion's standards?

I'm betting on the latter, but I think Barton Fink is reasonable as well: its not a part of the Coen Bros. collection coming out on Blu-Ray this month and is perhaps the most Criterion of their films.

EDIT: I've actually read on other sites that this a sign in the hotel featured in Wes Anderson's Rushmore. Another good potential release.

I'm thinking Rushmore as well. From the script:

Quote:
The living room of Mr. Blume's suite. Mr. Blume is dressed in a bathrobe with the Bilbly-Flickenger stitched on the pocket. He sits at his table having breakfast and reading the newspaper. There is a little basket in front of him with a jar of hone in it. A note attached to the jar says, "Enjoy your stay."

wouldn't it be The Rules of the Game? After all, they do stay at the country house.

Why would they hint at something they've already announced?

Dunno. Mysteries of the universe.
Actually the explanation for Rushmore sounded more plausible.

If this is Rushmore hopefully that means The Royal Tenenbaums and The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou blu-ray releases are not far behind.

More than wishful thinking

Rushmore
Tenenbaums
Life Aquaitc

All previous Criterion dvd releases, and all distributed by Touchstone(disney) studios.

Fantastic Mr. Fox is not a previous Criterion dvd release and is distributed by 20th century Fox.

No need to be a negative nancy man.

Yeah I agree. Rushmore makes me laugh so hard till it hurts. Still don't know where my DVD is. I think someone took it and never gave it back

Haha, yeah somebody has my scratched-all-to-hell disc and I'm left with the case. I showed that film to almost everybody I knew. It's seriously like the story of my life when I was in high school (minus kissing the teacher). When I went to China for three months in the summer of 2008, Rushmore was the only film I took with me.

Honestly, I don't give a **** about Criterion releasing Rules of the Game or Charlie Chaplin on blu-ray, but Rushmore was probably my #1 most wanted Blu-Ray.

Now it might be Sunset Blvd... and Vertigo...

EDIT: Somebody posted on Criterion's facebook the photo hint screencap that shows the "Enjoy Your Stay" card on the table; it's definitely Rushmore. What month is this for? November?

I guess I'm glad RUSHMORE is coming out and I will definitely pick it up. However, I would have preferred another Chaplin. It just seems every other month, there's another Wes Anderson film being released by Criterion.

So I guess with RUSHMORE, RULES OF THE GAME and THREE COLORS TRILOGY, that leaves about 2 more titles left unknown for the Nov. slate?

They released Bottle Rocket three years ago and Darjeeling Limited one year ago.
What always bothered me is that I consider those to be Wes Anderson's two worst (not that I dislike them) films, so I'm glad they're just skipping to his best this time.

Yeah, I guess you're right. For some reason I thought Criterion did ZISSOU as well....which I hated. Didn't Criterion just put out TENENBAUMS? Or am I still thinking of the Criterion dvd? Anyway, RUSHMORE is by far Anderson's best imo.
