The real question is can the Criterion Forum go even a week without bashing Anderson and/or Nolan?

We need something to do between the official announcements and the B&N sales

Talking about the collection and our opinions of it might be even more dangerous after a while but I could be wrong?

Not that anyone care but I will be watching Le Salaire de la peur tonight

I actually kinda like "Memento" though, gimmicky and shallow as it is. And to bring this back on-topic I won't be able to resist the "Following" Criterion Blu whenever it comes out even though it's a worthless and amateurish piece of trash.
Makes no sense whatsoever. But then again, this did start with you owning Batman and Robin, so I shouldn't be surprised by that last statement.

I am sure this has been discussed before, but I can't remember. Is there any way to find out the terms of the agreements Studio Canal or Criterion have about a title? I imagine not--there isn't much reason to make it public--but I always wonder whether, for example, Studio Canal could lose Ran in the same way that Criterion did.

I just ordered The Complete Jean Vigo from Planet Axel. I got free shipping with a coupon code they sent me so it boiled down to 31$ shipped. Considering I'll get the release earlier on top of that, this deal is, as Larry David would say, "prettay prettay prettay good".

There was some talk back in the Studio Canal thread when it was first release but I doubt anyone really know for sure what went on. I keep hoping that Criterion could get the rights back and make a release on Blu-ray, the eternal optimist that I am

I am going to the extreme here and say this is, for me, the best Criterion release ever.

I'm all in favor of high quality releases but if there are any plans to do anything with Ran I hope they're on the backest of the back burners (I think I might have made that phrase up - it's kinda poetic, no?).

There's a ton of stuff I'd rather have first. Hell, there are a half dozen other Kurusawas (that I know of) I'd rather have first.

I am just as optomistic

Luckily my DVD copy will tide me over.

While I would love a good release of Ran, I understand your point. I was just using it to ask the question.

Now, if they could release a blu-ray of Peeping Tom, that would be another issue all together.

Hmm...sounds similar to other folks' pleas on back burnering (another made up word) Wes Anderson movies.

Granted you only called for one film.

Well for some they are just as tired of seeing Kurosawa releases as Anderson

People can have all the different opinions they want. I'm just tired of Nolan and Wes Anderson being time bombs that go off once every 3 days, and then actual interesting un-rehashed opinions of Criterion Collection films and rumored films, reviews, and whatever else are either completely lost in the shuffle or just don't exist, and we get 4 pages of nonsensical hullabaloo about 'Why no one likes Inception' or 'Why Bottle Rocket was pretentious' or whatever else.

That might seem like it went against my whole 'opinions on Criterion Collection films and rumored films', but when it comes up as often as it does, it gets really GD annoying.

That's part of it but the fact that Ran already has a BD release is the bigger factor for me. I know the SC+ release has its problems but fixing bad BD releases is pretty far down my priority list.

Then again, I hope they announce/tease Spartacus soon so who the hell knows what's going through my head from one minute to the next.

Fixing a *bad* BD release is fine by me. Considering I refuse to buy what is out there now, they might as well still be unreleased anyway.
