Anyone able to confirm if the BDs are part of the sale. Noticed For All Mankind is just a 20% off price online... was wondering if those were excluded from the in store sale or?

Yes, multiple people have confirmed already that ALL titles are part of the sale. Additionally, all Blu-Rays are now 50% off online.

Just got Repulsion, Playtime, The Third Man & The 400 Blows from Barnes and Noble.com for ~$76 shipped.

I don't remember, is the 400 Blows a digipack or plastic case?

You should still be able to order any films you want to the location even though they don't have a movie section. It just takes a couple o days.

I'm not a Barnes & Noble member, so not really.

I don't want to bother with signing up just to cancel it 2 weeks from now

Hope you enjoy it as I did. Oh and be sure to check out the features. Really good stuff.
Didn't think that at all.

I definitely always appreciate a word of advice from a fellow film fan.

Hoping to watch one or two movies today. My girlfriend has shown great interest in The Seventh Seal, so that will definitely be on the agenda.

I noticed Amazon has Wings of Desire and Benjamin Button at $19.99 each. Hopefully that means they will be dropping all the Criterion titles to that price shortly.

That would be great. No tax (unlike B&N) and free shipping for anything over $25. I'm not sure whether B&N offers free shipping or not.

I know this is way early, but I know of Criterion's love for Wes Anderson. Does anyone think we may see The Fantastic Mr. Fox get a Criterion release? + will it ignite the releases of Anderson's other films?

Now with all Blu-ray’s 50% off online….just trying to see which ones are the best titles to go for…I own a few of Criterion Blu’s already already but for those who purchased these, which one of these are worth it? If you had to buy one or two from this list which one would you recommend.

a. Repulsion
b. Howards End
c. Monsoon Wedding
d. Kagemusha
e. Complete Monterey Pop Festival
f. The Last Emperor

The six titles I still have yet to get. Well, seven… I still haven’t purchased “Wages of Fear”, I know many people enjoy the film but if its as bleak like “Arlington Road” bleak (which I absolutely disliked because of that), I know it’s not for me.

I thought about “Howards End” but noticed that most of what I read is “great visuals, dry story” and “The Last Emperor” (great film, but presented in the wrong aspect ratio). And for “Repulsion”, as much as I would like to own it for I am a fan of Deneuve, I watched it before but it’s not something I can watch repeatedly.

Complete Monterey Pop Festival…Reading reviews of it seems like a fun release but I realize those people are quite passionate about the music. As much I was raised listening to that music and still listen to some of it today, not sure if I have the same passion as others who enjoyed it. So, I think I’ll pass.

But I’m think of “Kagemusha”….“Monsoon Wedding” is the question mark…Since I know nothing about it.

If you guys are looking for a cheap title (Criterion/Janus) to get the free online shipping at $25 and more... I recommend: The Red Balloon/White Mane or Night and Fog which is like $7.49. DVD's but both are worth owning.

If you haven't seen The Last Emperor it's a great film. I don't understand the aspect ratio complaints. It's not like Criterion arbitrarily decided on the ar, it's what the cinematographer Vittorio Storaro wanted. To me it's akin to complaining about a director's cut.

Monsoon Wedding is a fun/funny movie, certainly not a classic but a good watch.

Kagemusha, it's Kurasawa, I don't think I need to sing his praises -- if you haven't seen it you just should.

Howard's End, invite your grandmother over and watch it together. She'll appreciate it.

Repulsion I found irritating the first time I tried to watch it and only managed to get half way through it. I generally really enjoy Polanski, Cul-de-sac and Knife in the Water are two of my favorite movies. I'll just have to try again and hope it gets better. It's personal taste but Deneuve is vapid and annoying.

Just got back from B&N and bought 'Breathless' and 'Monsoon Wedding'! Are these any good? They're obviously blind buys.
