I just got the new Criterion email newsletter. I wonder from the clue if they are letting us know that A Boy and His Dog is next on Blu-ray?

Jean-Luc Godard's "Breathless" was important as it was a film that was a pioneer in the French New Wave and its use for jump cuts and those jump cuts is what made Godard popular as a filmmaker.

I still want to purchase the film but for this sale, after having it in my cart off and on, I opted for other films first. Personally, I wanted to watch "Breathless" before "Pierrot Le fou" followed by "Contempt" but again, I had to pick and choose my priorities with this sale. Otherwise, you can read more about the debate of people who just saw the film here: http://www.theauteurs.com/topics/2017?page=1

For some people who watch it now, it seems a bit more split as some people feel it's over-rated and then those who take the context of when the film was created and its innovation at that time.

Needless to say, if ever you want to sell it used...please let me know

Just bought some Criterions at the Barnes and Noble sale, it was too good not to jump in.
- Wings of Desire
- Last Year at Marienbad
- Kagemusha
- Playtime
- Bottle Rocket
- The Wages of Fear

I've heard very good things about these titles. I haven't seen any of them, but a Criterion blind buy has yet to disappoint me. Too bad I probably have to wait 2 weeks to get them. Hopefully they'll get through customs without problems.

Actually speculation is Dog Star Man, so maybe another Stan Brakage box, or a blu-ray version of the one that's out already, or both

(Probably several 15ths or 16ths before this one's announced, or did you mean Nov 2010 )

Sorry, hadn't heard of Dog Star Man, but looking it up you're right, that would be it. I'll give that one a pass. Last time, though, they had 8 1/2 blue dogs = BD of 8 1/2. So if you we took the dog out of the equation, then I'd say it was Starman, but that is already on Blu.

Picked up The Human Condition for $38.51 today at my local B&N...I went in for a venti Iced Mocha w/o whipped cream and a panini...

P.S. This isn't really a secret, but in-store, you don't have to have a B&N member card with you, all you have to do is know the phone number and last name of anyone else who has one, and they assume it is you and will apply it at the checkout.

Default Le Samourai on Blu-Ray Soon?

I saw two "Le Samourai" covers on BARNES & NOBLE site. One is for DVD and the other looks like Blu-Ray cover.

Is it a sign that it's going to be released soon?

Dog Star Man seems to make sense, although in the past the animal present in these clues has been irrelevant, so I'm not entirely convinced it's Brakhage-related.

Possibly, but that was specifically BLUE dogs, this one is just a dog so it wouldn't="blu-ray disk"

Starting November 10, all Criterion Collection titles will be 50% off the list price at Barnes & Noble, both in stores and online. This special promotion encompasses all titles and will run until November 24. (NOTE: Titles on preorder with street dates after 11/23 are not eligible for the discount.)
So close for Gomorrah lol.

Kndy, this file is a godsend! I've been trying to compose one myself since you can no longer just print a simple listing from criterion's site.
Thanks man! Any chance you can keep me posted on updates?

Kagemusha is my least favorite Kurosawa film. Last Emperor on the other hand is amazing and one of Bertolucci's finest!! But I would still pick up both (But only Kagemusha if you get a good deal!!)

Nope. Stan Brakhage films, likely his Dog Star Man series.
