I don't think any of those ones will see a release in December. To me, the most probable and factual options are Wild Strawberries and Y Tu Mama Tambien . Would LOVE to see Tokyo Story getting an upgrade (And I am certain it will in the next year), I can't believe we still don't have any Ozu in BD . Really excited for the Gojira hint too. I really like how Criterion doesn't get stale by releasing films from diverse genres. A monster movie is always welcome, especially when it is also an excellent examination of foreign a culture

I guess a Jan-Mar 2012 release date is the most probable scenario. And yes, it definitely is Gojira. The japanese scripted in the sticker translates to Go-ji-ra .

I think Belle De Jour is probably a lock for December.

Maybe, I think Y Tu Mama Tambien is pretty much locked by this point. Wild Strawberries was too but the Fanny and Alexander release will probably push it back. You know, so Criterion can give Bergman's releases a breath . I wonder if Criterion will have a strong month in December. Everything I remember from the last one was the Videodrome upgrade and Cronos .

Yeah, how long ago did they post that shot of the Drunken Angel can?

Still, it's good to know it's even part of the conversation and it's not like I'd buy it before next July/Nov anyway

Well, they've captured most of Takashi Shimura's other classic Kurosawa performances in "Seven Samurai", "Stray Dog" and "Ikiru", why not Dr. Yamane?

(Hopefully, since they're using the Rialto restoration, we'll get a better PQ than that Weinsteins/Classic Media false-start.)

Fill me in here - maybe I'm an idiot - but why would a new transfer be approached with vicious vitriolic venom?

Couldn't tell you as I am rather pleasedish to see this movie released by them.

I believe some may have issues with the director.

You (luckily) missed out on a conversation regarding whether or not Wes Anderson films should be in the Criterion Collection.
That conversation then led into the sort-of-related topics of whether the collection should include contemporary and studio-produced films instead of older, or lost, or obscure films.
Also brought up was whether we should be getting upgrades of films from DVD to blu-ray, when there are many films still not available in either medium.
