Hey guys I have a couple of questions about Charade. Does it come with a slipcover? And does it come in a standard blu ray case? I am only asking because I found a used copy of it but it comes without a slipcover and with what looks like a clear plastic ps3 game case.

I've never seen a Criterion title release with a slipcover. All the Criterion plastic cases are clear like the PS3 cases.

Standard Criterion clear plastic case is the only packaging that Charade has been released in.

I hope Criterion never does slipcovers.

As others have said, that's the exact way it was released. I hope it doesn't put you off of buying it, because I know some people are ridiculous about slipcovers coming with their films, and films that don't come in a standard BD case. It's an excellent film, and Criterion really did a great job on restoring it, and rescuing it from the hands of cheap Public Domain distributors.

I'm going to get shot for this, but wasn't there a guy who cut up the cover of The thin Red Line because he wanted to keep the movie in a standard BD case? Sorry to bring up that horror story guys.

I might get flamed for this, but I wish criterion would make available a clear replacement case for ben button. It annoys me everytime I see it on my shelf.

They do sell clear replacement cases, but you will have to size the cover yourself.

Except that it's nothing new. "The Maltese Falcon," a classic, was the THIRD film version of the same story in only 10 years, after "The Maltese Falcon" (1931) and "Satan Met A Lady" (1936). I haven't seen anything comparable to that in modern Hollywood.

Except "Benjamin Button". Which, I know, was a Paramount disc released by Criterion, but it still counts.

Yeah, just buy a replacement case. I have a file that someone created on here ages ago to fit the Criterion case. You'd have to put the 2nd disc in a paper sleeve or something, though, since Ben Button is a 2-disc release.

It looks very "tense" and could be a very gripping thriller, but from what I saw, the guy playing the "David Sumner" may as well have been this guy:

Oh Dear God, you're kidding!

God help us all!

I paid 115 Canadian, plus 15% sales tax, and thought the whole set was worth it just for Head when I first bought it. The other films are pretty great too.

The Killing/Killer's Kiss has finally shown up at my parents' place this morning.
Enjoy it my dear! It's a great transfer and a wonderful release!

It bothers me endlessly.

Worst part?

The DVD version matches all the other Criterion DVD's.

I believe Videodrome is the only release with a slip...looks like a VHS cardboard case.

Actually, it's even worse:

James Marsden is in the remake, not Jon Herder.

Edit: I hate, hate, hate Napoleon Dynamite btw, so this is no way saying Jon Herder would be a better choice. The best choice would have been not to remake this movie at all. They couldn't even come up with a new poster for the asinine thing.

Thanks for the reply's to my question. I went back and picked up that used copy Charade. I have never seen the movie but I figured its only 12 dollars and the trailer looks promising.

I think the last DVD i purchased was Pierrot Le Fou in 2008. The only ones I own now are Antoine Doinel box and Hiroshima mon Amour.

It's the best Hitchcock film Hitchcock never did! At least, that's how I think the quote goes. It's one of my favourite movies of both Audrey Hepburn and Cary Grant. The Henry Mancini score is fantastic too.
