I'm just as bad as you, I was just standing in for some of the other posters in this thread. :P
Zazie Dans Le Metro and High and Low were also two of my sale purchases, and I've watched both of them. They're both great choices. Did you actually get the box yet!? I'm still waiting for If...., as Amazon shipped it last Monday, and according to DHL, it's still sitting in Des Plaines. So much for expedited shipping from Amazon. My birthday order, which was shipped with the cheaper standard shipping, took less time to show up than this. Would complaining to Amazon do any good? I know it was just 2 bucks more, but I was under the impression it would be just slightly quicker, not slower. |

![]() It had a slight dent in the corner, but none of the blu-rays inside were damaged. I also checked all the discs and the booklets, but they were fine. Phew! I think I'm looking forward to watching Zazie the most - it looks like so much fun. |

Watched Paris, Texas last night; great job by Criterion, especially in terms of reproducing the color scheme of the movie.
The movies itself was wonderful and the cinematography looked even more amazing on my 110". I have to say this was one of the best visual experience since I installed the projector, all the effort, time and money, well worth it. |

I did like High and Low more though, but that's because I'm on a Kurosawa kick. |

I watched several Criterions in the past week:
If... Complete Vigo Orpheus Smiles of a Summer Night Still Walking To be honest, If... didn't do much for me, and the Vigo collection left me indifferent. Orpheus was on the whole rather interesting. I was pleasantly surprised by the Bergman, whose work I find tendentious; I found the film to be very clever. But most of all, I found Still Walking to be an absolutely brilliant distillation of family life. It was very subtle, and all the more effective because of that. It was very true, bittersweet, quiet, devastating. Characters had both positive and negative traits. There were no histrionics, no "look at me while I'm acting!" grandstanding that you would see if Hollywood did this. I was deeply moved by this powerful film. |

Wow, been a loooooooooooong time since I last posted...
I got to read all the Wes Anderson bashing, however, and was thoroughly entertained. Love love love the newest announcements, Oct-Nov. Also been watching lots of CC BDs over the summer that were incredible! Something Wild, Battle of Algiers, Still Walking, Black Moon, Darjeeling Limited, Life During Wartime (odd, but still enjoyed it), The Double Life of Veronique, Sweetie, Kiss Me Deadly, The Man Who Fell to Earth, People on Sunday, and Solaris...one of my faves! I am continually impressed with the video and audio aspects on all CCs that I have watched, and while 99.9% of the CCs I own are blind buys, I am rarely, if ever, dissapointed! I did have a few questions for those in the know...regarding the new Carlos set: The set is 2 discs, and I assume the film is split over both discs? Is it broken up like a mini-series, with "parts" or is it one long long film? The shorter theatrical version is not included, correct? I know it was announced earlier as something that would be there, but I guess not...didn't see anything about it in the review... Thanks guys! |

Watched If...., Orpheus & Cul-De-Sac over the weekend. I felt the same as Dag did about If.. I felt sort of indifferent about the whole thing. I thought Malcolm was excellent in the movie and enjoyed him in it. On a whole I think all the actors did a great job and I found the insight into life at the school fascinating, but just couldn't get into the movie. I've never really been a fan of movies that go in and out of fantasy and reality with no real borders so maybe that was part of it. Hopefully I will enjoy it more on another viewing. "Disc 1 has the trailer, Shooting of the OPEC Sequence, and Selected-scene Commentary. Disc 2 has the rest of the extras. Also, Disc 1 has episodes 1&2 and Disc 2 has episode 3. Run time: Episode 1: 01.44.31s Episode 2: 01.52.21s Episode 3: 02.04.07s" I've got the UK edition and have seen both the full 3 part version and the theatrical version. You can take it from me, you don't need to worry about the theatrical version. |

I personally send them off to be graded, then when they return, I dress them up in sets of little silky robes and take turns each night with them.
