I want something more surprising and unpredictable. I honestly can't think of "that" something. A box-set would be completely accepted by me .

EDIT: Looking at all the "100" Criterion has, I don't see the release number as something really special. The last hundred we got The War Trilogy but then again spine #300 is The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou. I think any film will do, let's hope it's a highly requested title like Gojira.

Everyone talks about what they want or hope is coming soon, so here's an article I found on the topic:

Interesting article, thanks for posting. I certainly agree with #3.

That is the only one in my top 10 upgrades wish list, but a few of the others would make my top 25.

Great read ! Thanks a lot for sharing. I actually agree with some of this ones. Things like Hiroshima, Mon Amour and Le Samourai scream for upgrades but I see some high omissions too (The nature of all "lists" ). Quite a few films need urgent BD upgrades. Andrei Rublev, Taste of Cherry, Viridiana, Ace in the Hole, Andrzej Wajda: Three War Films and The Cranes are Flying just to name a few.

As the article correctly states: "Also, I believe it was Nostradamus who famously Tweeted: "The world will not be at peace until the day that all of Melville's films are widely available in 1080p." "

There's a few I'd like, but number one for me is In The Mood For Love.
Maggie Cheung in 1080p would be so gorgeous

If there is one Kurosawa's film that should be upgraded, that's Ikiru (Although, I am being very serious about my comment )

Wouldn't have been able to take this list seriously if it didn't contain Le Samourai

This is not about Criterion, but about delivery expectations.
I ordered Brotherhood of the Wolf from Amazon.fr last week and it has already arrived. It took 6 days via standard delivery from France to Australia.
Pretty ridiculous that it took Barnes & Noble 41 days to get a box of blu-rays from America to Australia.

I agree with # 1 + #3 for sure. I doubt we'd get an elaborate package for #1 that would compare with the DVD release. I won't let anyone touch that one on my shelf it is in mint condition.

I wouldn't mind Maggie Cheung in hi-def either. i have never seen In the Mood for Love, but I have seen a couple of the director's other movies and liked those. Also whenever ITMFL gets mentioned here it is always positive.

I have so many Criterions on my upgrade wish list that it will take years to see them if they keep with their current schedule of two or three a month. I hope December brings six or seven releases total and not two the way it was last year.

I just started my Criterion Collection a few weeks ago and am completely addicted. I've quickly fallen in love with the way the films look, both onscreen and on the shelf. I've made good use of the B&N sale and ordered a few from amazon as well, and I've got a few 'newbie' questions.

- I just came from B&N and noticed that a few of the earlier digipack releases that Criterion offers replacement cases for were available with the newer packaging. The ones I saw were Chungking Express and Bottle Rocket. Are the others available retail as well without having to spend and extra $5 for the case?

- Benjamin Button...Is there a replacement case available for this? I searched the 'custom art' thread and found a few people asking about it, but I couldn't find the actual re-sized art. Also, any cheaper alternatives for a Criterion plastic case? They want $3 plus shipping for a single case.

It's worth it to get the official case Criterion uses.

If you wanted to pay Criterion's website prices, you could probably contact them before ordering from their site to make sure your copy arrives in the plastic case, if that's what you desire. I'm sure others are available at other stores in the plastic packaging, but I'm sure it varies across the country according to the store's available stock.

I still have the PDF that a user in this forum created, and I can easily e-mail it to you if you send me a PM with your e-mail address. You'd have to purchase one of Criterion's single-disc plastic cases, but because Ben Button is a 2-disc release you'd have to put the 2nd disc into a paper sleeve or something.

I've never considered Benjamin Button a true Criterion release.

Maybe it's because Criterion really didn't do anything with the release except put their "C" on the package.
