That was the speculation about The Thin Red Line--that if it ever got its hands on it, Criterion would release Malick's rumored four-hour version. Didn't happen.

Oct 4th is a big day as I am buying Harakiri and Salo. But what is the deal with Amazon selling Salo for $34.99 ?

I noticed that Amazon has a few upcoming Criterion releases priced at $35.99. (December pre-orders)

Here is another positive review for The Phantom Carriage. (this should be in today's mail hopefully)

Also, It's rumored Malick's 2013 documentary project Voyage of Time contains the extra footage from Tree of Life.

Amazon's just charging a premium price for poop eating. B&N has it for 30.99 on their site, BTW, they just don't appreciate the poop eating enough to charge that extra 4 dollars for it.

It's not real.

Who cares what one B&N employee, "aspiring" Horror writer or not... thinks?

I'm willing to bet you can find a daycare teacher who is turned on by Salo

Different strokes for different folks

If you thought "Antichrist" was 'a bit much' I recommend you stay FAR away from Salo!

That is the price for Criterion all the time here in Canada, in fact it's $2 under the normal price, they are in most cases $36 or more.

I think it's good advice

Salo is actually not as bad as Antichrist but still. I always suspect that if I would have saw Salo back in my college days instead of my mid 30's I would probably had a different reaction to it.

THIS.

Pink Flamingos had real poop, Salo's poop is fake poop. It's still gross, and everything else in the movie totally makes me not want to watch it. Antichrist is another one I'm not into watching either.

Too bad Salo didn't have people eating Salo, which is less disgusting, although still kinda blech:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salo_%28food%29

Edit: Caligula kinda turned me off of most shocker films like that. I've grown past that sort of thing.

well i wouldnt base not buying it on someone i never met or even met. but i was just stating that someone who can handle a lot was a bit repulsed.

i think i would be game for it.

Our Canadian prices are insane. We're better off ordering from amazon.com it's so bad.

That 'aspiring' comment you tossed in there comes off as condescending and elitist, especially towards someone you know absolutely nothing about save for the quote you replied to. Really in poor taste there Beta.

Ding, ding, ding! That's exactly what I do when stuff goes on sale, and it was more than worth it when the dollar was up to 1.07. Or B&N when they have the 50% off sale. I'm in no hurry to get my BDs. It usually takes about a week. I'm hoping the dollar goes back up, or stays where it is. I'm going to NH on thr 7th for a couple days, and I was planning on using my Visa to pay for everything due to the 1% cash back I get. I was thinking of hitting up B&N for some of the October CC releases.

I still need to get about 100 bucks out for food and such though.

That's why you need an American "supplier" to get you the hook-up.

Watched Beauty & the Beast this weekend. What an absolute gem this film is. The story is also timeless and classic as we all know. But the mood reminded me alot of Dracula, Frankenstein, Nosferatu,... very haunting and strangely erotic at times.
