btw, Jon just replied to me about sending replacements for 3 orders which arrived damaged.

I had 2 cracked cases resulting in ripped artwork. One of the titles was directly from CC during the 50% off sale, and one was for Carlos' digi.

Shipment should be sent out by the end of the week, he said.

They rock.

I have no idea where that film, and most other once-owned Anchor Bay titles, went after Starz bought them. It seems that all of the Argento stuff went over to Blue Underground. Anchor Bay was such a great company during the later VHS and early DVD days. I'm still waiting for a blu-ray of "Midnight Madness" with Michael J. Fox.

Anchor Bay was a great company (had Out of the Blue as well). Looks like the last couple dvds Repo Man has been released by Universal Studios/Focus Features.

Default the rock

criterion is rumoured to be releasing the rock on blu ray. God i hope not, Michael Bay is the biggest hack in the history of hollywood, one of films on a criterion re-release is repulsive... especially since the rock is nothing more than a mediocre blockbuster

They screened The Rock at All Tomorrow's Parties, so now people are speculating that they will release a blu ray of it. Of course, they also screened Straw Dogs, which they don't even have the rights to anymore, so I don't think we can draw any firm conclusions.

I suspected that is why people thought that. I highly doubt it.

There's a better chance we see a Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson film in the collection....

I have to disagree with you. It is far from mediocre. So many sub plot lines with redemption and survival. It deserves better than mediocre.

Was the Disney Blu-ray release a complete repackaging of the Criterion DVD release, only in HD? Is it really necessary? I could understand Armageddon getting a full on Criterion release.

BTW, this is a shot in the dark and mostly just something I really want to see? There's one Steven Spielberg film that's never made it out on DVD and I would love to see Criterion pick it up: Amblin.

I suppose it depends on what you are judging it against, but I respectively disagree. A bunch of pretty good actors chewing scenery and running from explosions doesn't make a movie, neither does does frat boy melodrama or gay hairdressers.

The Rock is the definition of bog standard popcorn fair for the landlocked states.

If that's the case, it will be a truly useless release. So not necessary, especially out of the hundreds of possible upgrades.
