They should release something from Hong Sang-Soo, A Tale of Cinema, or Woman is the Future of Man would be ideal

I haven't seen too much of his films, but have been very curious about Virgin Stripped Bare by Her Bachelors. Have you seen it?

I have not, I have only seen the two I mentioned above and Woman on the Beach, and Hahaha.....I was never really interested in Virgin Stripped Bare by Her Bachelors, but I have been curious to see it since recently finding out about the life and career of Lee Eun-ju

I have viewed this BD four time since I received it in the mail last week. One of Criterion's best Blu-ray release yet. (IMO)
Amazon has recalled this title. Anyone know what's up?

EDIT: I just called Amazon and of course....they don't know why they recalled it. Unbelievable! I ordered one myself from Amazon (pre-ordered it), but haven't opened it up yet. I'd like to know what I'm supposed to be looking for.

Probably United Parcel Smashers vs Amazon bubble bags.

That's a good one! Got this title in a box with other blus from Amazon via USPS. Box was delivered in great shape. I always use USPS instead of UPS these days. Like you said, United Parcel Smashers. I may have to borrow that one.

I've only had to get an exchange from Amazon because of their packaging once, am I just extremely lucky? My copy of the Killing looked like it had been run over, but they replaced it overnight (and sent the new copy in a very sturdy box)

I will still hold out, but hopefully you are right about The Phantom Carriage BD.

Here's the thing: If UPS is causing the damage with these PHANTOM OF THE CARRIAGE blus, why would Amazon pull their initial stock? Just ship them in carboard mailers instead.

Not sure what's up with this. I have viewed all of the supplements and watched the film with both scores and have had no problems. (I ordered from DVDEmpire though)

I guess it could be a firmware issue. I wonder if this release has certain number of first time silent film viewers who feel the BD does not live up to the Criterion standard. (and are returning the purchase to amazon)

I think the film looks miraculous considering it's production year of 1920.

Most notably, the America Lost and Found set. Rhino/Time Warner has some distribution rights for Head; I don't know if they have purchased the film outright though (it was originally a Columbia title). The rest are Columbia/Sony titles all the way.

Only "The Lady Vanishes" is listed in blu-ray. They may have lost rights to the two listed as out of print.
Thanks for that!! Hope they get around to releasing them in 1 or 2 year's time. It's strange that The 39 Steps hasn't been released by them yet, even though it's available in Europe (albeit with subpar picture quality)....

Just watched Diabolique for the first time. What a great movie. The ending was amazing. Definitely one of my favorite criterions I've seen so far. Anything else in the collection kind of like it?

I personally don't own it but The Wages of Fear is said to go great along Diabolique. Both films were directed by Henri-Georges Clouzot and both have suspense as their trademark.

I think it's safe to pencil in the Bunuel.

Also, I think Bitter Rice is due. TCM airs it 10/15...

One of the reviewers on Amazon said it was due to it being 1080i and people not realizing that the films frame rate isn't compatible with 1080p. I have no clue if this is true.

What does "not being compatible" mean? People On Sunday didn't have any such problems, right?

Just watched Criterion's excellent release of Harakiri. Now I am hoping for announcements of The Hidden Fortress and Samurai Rebellion .
