Not sure which you are referring too, but CC has std def releases of all the films listed. Spy was released on SD-DVD in the blu-ray era.

I was referring to Spy, I had no idea they even had the rights let alone released a DVD, I'm a big fan of le carre's work so I'd love to see this get a full upgrade but if they released a DVD recently it probably is not very likely

I concur, and I will totally buy the shit out of that BD release on day one. I love, love, love Anatomy of a Murder, it's one of my favourite Jimmy Stewart films.

Along with its re-emergence as a well-respected piece of art, I think it's pretty safe to say "Harold and Maude" had a strong influence on at least one of Criterion's golden boys. Can ya guess who?
Harold & Maude seems like the most logical choice of Ashby's films. Paramount will never release it on Blu ray.

Of course, just mentioning Anderson is going to make some people here froth at mouth. Some in anger and some in happiness

I'm going to get snapped at by jcs913, but I would enjoy a Criterion release of Ashby's Being There. The current BD, which I don't own, apparently has a poor transfer and very few extras. I'd like Harold and Maude as well, but I really want to see some Peter Sellers titles in the collection, as he was, IMHO, a rather important player in film history.

There's a ton of MGM/United Artists titles Criterion could swipe with Sellers in them:

The World of Henry Orient
What's New P.ussycat?
After the Fox
The Party

I would kill for I Love You, Alice B. Toklas, but it's a Warner Bros. film, and they're stingy with catalogue titles.

I think The Magic Christian would also be ripe for a CC release. I'm just wishing and hoping in vain though.

Am I the only one that thinks they've been slow in releasing their Truffaut?

And it wouldn't be a bad idea if they released, also, some of the pre-90's Woody Allen.

I promise I will not snap, as Being There is a great film. I have seen the Warner BD and frankly it is not as bad as reviewed.

Honestly, it looks like I will snap at Criterion if The Royal Tenenbaums is announced today, although it seems likely. I will beat the dead horse on this, as it simply proves the point that Criterion generally cares about upgrading their current catalog than release new films. I will say IMO that Tenenbaums is the best of Anderson, but the film looks more than fine on the CC dvd as it isn't even 10 years old and an upgrade to BD seems pointless now. Maybe in a few years, like the 15th anniversary makes more sense. As on point though, the extras will be ported over and everyone will upgrade, which makes Criterions accountants happy....

I haven't bothered to upgrade my DVD copy of Being There yet, I'm focusing more on new releases and titles I don't have.

I agree with you about TRT, and don't want it to be announced today. I want Gojira and Anatomy of s Murder. We're getting Rushmore in November, so it's Anderson overkill. I also prefer Life Aquatic anyways, and have been holding off on buying the DVD. Actually, Life Aquatic and Fantastic Mr. Fox have been the only Anderson films I like.
