I only bulk order from them now since they've introduced the flat customs/handling fee.

I ordered IOLS and Kuroneko along with The Bad Seed, Blue Velvet, Dark Night of the Scarecrow, Evil Dead II (Anniversary Edition), Horror Express, The Phantom Carriage, Torso, and Zombie.

All items (that I've received) from that order were shipped separately.

"Back in print" as in Criterion has re-acquired the distribution license from Studio Canal? Are you talking about that kind of "back in print?"

The answer is no.

Have more copies now surfaced in Amazon's inventory? It appears this is the case. There are many other of the OOP Studio Canal-owned Criterion DVDs back on Amazon, as well. This doesn't mean that Criterion has started manufacturing them again, though.

It's a shame that The Third Man isn't one of them!

I think Criterion anticipated the Godard going OOP and had ordered plenty of copies before the deal expired.

I think they were ambushed on The Third Man though....

My speculation...

Looks like Criterion took out the Directed by Ishiro Honda label on the Godzilla cover and replaced it with just a TM. Seems like Toho is being a bit overprotective and can't even give the director his due on a release like this.

With this small sale going on, I was wondering if I should get Trafic or The Small Back Room? I love both Tati and Powell & Pressburger but have heard mixed things about each.

they have Contempt in stock also.
which is really weird, as it has been OOP forever and was only available through sellers the last time I looked.
it's only $19.99 which is a steal for that OOP title imo.

I just grabbed Le trou...sounds like a great film. Port of Shadows is great...I saw a print of it at MOMA in NYC, but I can't go nuts with the B&N sale so close.

Alphaville is screaming for a blu-ray. Eventually Studio Canal will take a dump on it - I'm sure.

Yes and who cares about reviews except to hear a different opinion. Also it's true that it shares a lot with American Graffiti. But I never liked American Graffiti so I don't know how that figures. It also has some similarities with Carrie, ecxept theres only a bucket of paint no pig's blood.

Part of the fun in Dazed and Confused is that it works allthough there's almost no plot, it's similiar to listening to a record. And it grows on me with every viewing. So I think it's more in the feel than in the think department. But it's just pure fun if you don't take it too serious.

Yeah, there are other OOP DVDs back in-stock, but I don't believe all of them are 50%-off right now.

Just got home from school and noticed that Pierrot le Fou is currently $19.99. Is this worth a blind buy? I read the Blu-ray.com review and it sounds very interesting to me.

I hope so. I still haven't bought the DVD and once it went out of print I decided I wouldn't look for it but wait for a Blu-ray instead.

It's everything you would want a movie to be.

If you like the Godards leading up to that film-- go for it. It's a lot of fun.
