Cool. I'll just keep my fingers crossed! Thanks for the reply.

I agree. The closest I have seen was last month's 40% off blu-ray sale. Combining the sale with available coupons, I grabbed quite a few Kinos, along with several Criterions.

No. While it's great to contemplate film noirs in HiDef, I wish the g-d-m-d majors would release these titles! I'd love to have several of the Studio Classics and Film Noirs that Fox put out on standard def. And, Warners, well, there's a lot to be desired.

No, I'm not, but I've never had any problems either. I've always gotten my stuff sent to me in boxes, or the occasional bubble envelope, so this was the first time. It boggles my mind that they sent it out that way. They might as well have just put my address on the blu-ray case itself and shipped it.

"A Criterion Pictures Release" isn't the Criterion Collection.

Yeah, that would have been nice. I'd really like to add that but $65-$80 is a wee bit steep.

How's the pq on High and Low? The review in this site didn't give it a great score. I'm thinking of blind buying it but won't if the pq isn't that great.

I asked this in the sale thread, but perhaps it's a better question for here. If I have a choice, should I get Revanche or Fish Tank? Both look of interest to me.

They are both excellent. You should definitely plan on buying both at some point. Revanche is a much slower film, but it's beautifully shot and a very realistic, unique take on revenge. I found Fish Tank much more powerful, emotionally, though. It had more of an immediate impact on me, so I'd recommend that one more highly. But they're both up there as favorites from the collection for me.

For someone who's never seen a Godard film, would you recommend I get Breathless or Pierrot Le Fou?

Breathless. DEFINITELY Breathless. To me, loving or hating 'Breathless' is very much a defining factor in whether or not one loves or hates French new wave all together. It's not necessarily his best film, but it's essential viewing. If you like its style, then I'd recommend moving onto his later films, which become less structured over time.

The PQ is pretty good, in my opinion. The film is a total masterpiece though. If you don't own it on any format, then Blu is the way to go obviously. I'd buy it on the strength of the film itself.

I watched it a week or two ago and thought it looked pretty good.
I watch on a 50" plasma - do you have bigger than that?
