I got interupted an hour or so into High and Low but from what I saw the pq didn't seem at all bad (and was quite good at times). If I hadn't seen the review I'm not sure I would have even given it any thought.

I wouldn't base a purchasing decision on it.

Yeah, if anyone's interested in helping me out with this as well, I could give them some money too. I live in Canada, I ordered the Bottle Rocket, Third Man, and 400 Blows back when they were first released and it was $15, now Criterion are gonna charge me $25 flat shipping fee, plus the $5 for the 1 case I now need (Chungking Express). I don't think I'll ever be getting it unless someone in the US can help me out.

I really like them both, but if I could only get one I'd go with Revanche.

The lead performance in Revanche is as good as they come. The film's story is brilliant, similar to a Greek myth or tragedy in structure. I revisit Revanche a bit more than Fish Tank. (but like I said, Fish Tank is fine film)

Pierrot le Fou. It's not as influential as Breathless, but I find it to be much more enjoyable and a better overall film. Breathless is still a very good film though. If you were to get one Godard on Criterion blu, I'd get Vivre Sa Vie though.

I watched it 5 days ago and I think the PQ was perfectly fine. I had zero issues with it and thought it looked good. A phenomenal film too.

Both are worth owning but I'd go with Revanche. It doesn't have the standout performance of Katie Jarvis in Fish Tank and isn't as well-directed. However, as one poster mentioned, it's like a Greek tragedy. Very thematically deep, unlike Fish Tank.

Planning on getting another Godard BD (Only own Vivre sa Vie en BD) so I was thinking on getting Contempt from StudioCanal. Would anyone recommend this release? BTW, I have never seen it but my philosophy professor (Who is an avid film buff himself) told me to see it as it seems to be a departure from Godard. Does anyone recommend the film itself ?

I love the film and I've got the StudioCanal version. I've watched it couple of times and I've been very satisfied with the quality.

It's my second favorite Godard behind Vivre Sa Vie. I think it's a fantastic film and the blu-ray is of much better quality than the review on here would leave you to believe. I thought the PQ was very good.

To me, it's his most commercial film from the 60s. It's not a favorite of mine, but if you like Godard, by all means keep watching these films. Although, I much prefer Breathless and Pierrot Le Fou in terms of Godard BD releases. (Although Vivre Sa Vie is my favorite of his, period)

Back when Criterion first started doing BD releases of some titles and DVD-only titles in addition to those, they did 2 or 3 things I know about her. I wish that one was chosen to be on Blu, I love that one.

Like GilliamsBrazil I'll also keep my fingers crossed, as I also ordered the steelbook edition of Touch of Evil, one of my all-time favorite films, from HMV.

Saw the La Dolce Vita restoration print tonite and it's awesome.

Here's hoping Criterion Co. and Paramount can cut a deal and get this one a long over-due spine.

I'm a Prime member, but that doesn't seem to affect how Amazon packages its items, just the shipping speed. I recently received a copy of Salo (digipack) from the retailer in a plain, plastic envelope with no protection. I knew even before I opened the envelope that the digipack would be damaged and it certainly was. In a word: Replace.

It's quite sad that Criterion has decided to opt for Region A-locked releases. Otherwise I probably would have bought the majority of the movies.

So I guess EVERY blu-ray release from any studio should be region free. Hmm, I wonder why everyone doesn't do that....

My copy, and I've seen this reported several times, freezes badly during the scene when Palance and Bardot kiss, and skips about an entire minute. I tested this on both my Insignia and an updated Sony and the glitch occured with both players. I know some machines play it without problem though so I guess it's hit or miss.
