Ok, the price is right..but any thoughts on this film??. Somehow after all these years I've never seen this film.

Ambiguous films don't scare me perse...(I am big Antonioni fan, especially of "L'Aventura")

But years ago the critics Pauline Kael and John Simon skewered this film as pretentious drivel and the synopsis left me a bit queasy (people with no names just "letters" all situated in a chic hotel)

It was kind of hard to follow the timeline(if there even is one), if one of the leads is in a dream, who is in the past or who is in the present. Is everyone even conscious here? This is only my third Criterion release that I've watched so far. They are a welcome change from the mindless Action-Adventure that inhabits my overall collection.

first off, kudos for branching out! it's always good to hear...second, i recommend watching the movie by thinking as little as possible. as it says on one of the special features, or in the book or something, on this release, it's best to just let the movie carry you along. it's quite an experience if you let that happen.

I'm wondering whether these Lionsgate releases will be in regular Blu-ray cases or in the rather cheesy digibook-style packaging that has been used in Europe for the Studio Canal collection (including these titles).

Does anyone have any advanced knowledge about the Lionsgate packaging?

I would bet they will be in the digipack style books, esp since they come with the booklets. I don't mind the digibooks that much, Only Issue I have is the spine titles are upside down.

I like the digibooks theses come in though. It would be between them or the regular blue cases, which I don't like.

Was just at Best Buy for Gomorrah to price match their .com of 26.39 and fouond on a cart in the DVD dept, Gimme Shelter (BB.com price match 23.99) and A Christmas Tale (29.99)

I just love these Criterion BD cases more than any other BD case.

Just a quick question. In a collectors stand point, what version of The Third Man is more rare or valuable, the digipack or the clear case? or the same? I have both versions but im gonna give one to my brother

Clear plastic is more rare because soon after they were released the film went OOP.

I would think the digipack since you can buy the clear case from Criterion for $5, but a sealed The Third Man in a clear case might be more rare/valuable.

Yes, I seen that review today. Are MOC blu-rays region free? I would love to have it.
