The Three Colors trilogy (if you're willing to spend the money)
The Red Shoes

EDIT: Paths of Glory is also a must buy.

Paths of Glory
(based on 2001, The Killing and because everybody should have this)

Naked
(based primarily on Kes and Revanche but this one is a bit of a gut feeling too)

If you enjoy the Godard titles you own, I'd strongly recommend 'Vivre Sa Vie'.

I'd also recommend 'Naked'. You've got a broad variety of titles, so it's hard to pick...but I'd recommend 'Naked' to just about everyone, it's a favorite of mine.

Edit: Oops...forgot to use quote...but either way, this is clearly a response to SlickDamian

uh, no. I am not f'n high. Though I'm not necessarily opposed to getting that way.

For an old coot, my memory is fairly good, and I'm not likely to forget one of the funniest (cruel, but funny) posts I've ever read on BR.com. I promise I won't harrass you for another few months anyway, so no need to explain your jokes, its kinda like a doctoral dissertation on a 3 stooges short.

ps. relax dude, I am joking, too!

I will again advocate the liberal use of the ignore feature. It will make the board a better place and let you save your energy for other things.

my favorite time of year! where I spend way too much money on blu-rays and make 1-2 posts on this website

let me say: hooray, and everyone enjoy the sale.

can't wait for dazed and confused. I haven't watched it in a very long time in anticipation and it's one of my absolute favorite movie of all time.

best time of the year!

Oh dear.
To say I ordered on B&N to France, so I will only have mine in December.

For my part, I ordered (in multiple orders, due to shipping deliveries timings and to avoid duty taxes) :

First order :

Kuroneko
Dazed & Confused
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas
Walkabout

2nd order :

Beauty and the Beast
The Rules of the Game
Island of Lost Souls
The Phantom Carriage

3rd order (because at the time, there was the pricing mistake) :

Branded to Kill
Tokyo Drifter
Godzilla

And I also ordered this week end on Planet Axel (because I don't want to wait, and because I thought it wouldn't be possible to have 12 Angry Men at $19.99) :

Fanny & Alexander
3 colors Trilogy (for which I'm very concerned about any packaging crush during transportation)
12 Angry Men

Annnnd I don't have any budget left for the whole November month.
How will I be able to buy the Gaumont latest releases ?!

Damn you, Criterion !!

Nice picks! My barnes already knows to hold three colors trilogy for me. Also asked the guy very pleasantly to save me the nicest one. Gotta see how my funds shape up this month. Im gonna have to dodge regular releases until the sale is over to make sure I'm getting maximum criterion.

I also have Army of Shadows, which is another blind buy, awaiting shippment as I ordered it with my 12 Angry Men pre-order from Amazon.
I'm a fan of Amarcord - a strange and (mostly) fun film about growing up. Obviously, very Fellini-esque.
I liked The Magician, but I feel I need to see it again. Some has already mentioned it, but the black and white cinematography looks great on this blu-ray.
I've always liked Dazed and Confused, but I just don't feel the need to own it. Not at this stage, anyway.
Army of Shadows was also a blind-buy for me and it really blew me away. I'd always liked Melville, but I wasn't prepared for such a serious film. It's only a matter of time before I re-watch it, but I really want to share it with Mrs DrBikeShorts and some other friends. Great film.

(The Magician is the best film on your list IMHO) The Four Feathers is an epic scale adventure tale that was the crowning achievement of Z. Korda's production company. I am sure that the film would not be considered PC by today's standards A very enjoyable film with solid A/V presentation. Amarcord is a lot of fun. (it great to see the environment that Fellini grew up in on film) The BD is stacked in the supplement department.

On a side note, The Army of Shadows is excellent addition to your CC library. May be Melville's best film. (and the Criterion BD is loaded with supplements)

My friend recommended The Magician, as the only Bergman I've ever watched was The Seventh Seal, and I really enjoyed that one. He's a huge Bergman fan, and finds the "depressing" Bergman movies to be the best ones, and that this one seems to be up my alley with the kinds of movies I watch. He has the BD, but hasn't watched it yet to tell me anything about the technical specs.

My mom really enjoys The Four Feathers, and told me it was good. I have seen bits and pieces, but not the whole film. It's one of the few BDs I've bought recently that she'll watch. She's upset that Army of Shadows is not in English, as she finds it hard to read subs. My father tells me the Jane Seymour one's better, but this one is the second best one. He hates the Heath Ledger version with a passion though.

I've only watched La Strada and 8 1/2 as far as Felllini is concerned, and enjoyed both. La Strada was much more enjoyable than 8 1/2 (IMHO), so I'm curious as to how Amarcord compares to the two.

I blind bought Army of Shadows because everyone raves so much about it, and it's a subject that really interests me.

I honestly can't wait to watch all of these, but that's a bit of a problem as I won't get these until the end of November, beginning of December if I'm lucky.

I ordered at the B&N sale on Blu-ray:
The Night of the hunter
Seven Samurai
The Leopard
The Battle of Algiers

Let's hope i get them all this time
Got an extra 10% so it's $22.49 each
Last sale 2 of the Blu-rays i ordered at the time went on a much longer waiting period (2-4 weeks)before they got shipped so i cancel them.

So, here's what I got online...all blind buys.

Repulsion
Harakiri
Jean Vigo
Wages of Fear
Identification of a Woman

Also pre-ordered the Three Colors trilogy.

I won't get to go into a store until this weekend. I'll just pick up a couple more there.

I got all the Blu-ray I was hoping for (won't be receiving them for a while since I included pre-orders who I hope theiy will honor) but I think I will make another run on the final week, go back and pick some Eclipse sets since many of these are interesting and may not make the move to Blu-ray while I am still young enough

Does anyone know of any films that are OOP Criterion DVDs (not blu-rays), that have since made it to Blu-ray from another studio or in a different region? For instance, both Contempt and Ran are available from StudioCanal. Though they are the only two I can think of. Any more?
