Just got the BBS set in the mail. Any order I should watch these or any I should watch first? Haven't seen any of the movies in this set but I'm excited to do so. Thanks.

Just watch them in the order they're included...

Although I wouldn't suggest talking to him like that. You know the whole damnation thing.

ok. I'm on the fence about two titles. Leon Morin Priest and 3 Women.

Any recommendations?

Haven't seen Leon Morin Priest but I really liked 3 women.

In spine order, as it's chronological order of the release. Also, don't write Head off after the first viewing. It's a movie that you need to watch multiple times to really get it. Also, knowing some Monkees history doesn't hurt. Head's a lot like Zazie dans le metro in that regard, so much going on in so little time.

I'm also horribly biased, as it's my absolute favourite film.

I say take each disc out of the box, shuffle them like cards and watch the first disc that is on top when you are done shuffling

Thanks.

That's pretty much how I was leaning.

Le Cercle Rouge and Army of Shadows were fantastic and I enjoy Belmondo as an actor, but everything I've read makes it sound like the majority of the film is simply a discussion between the two main characters. I don't mind slow films, but that just doesn't sound like something I would enjoy.

I have been very impressed by The Last Picture Show.
I've re-watched Easy Rider, and it is still quite blah for me.
Head was pretty funny, but a bit too long (and it's only 85 minutes !).
A Safe Place sounded interesting but was quite boring.

And... I still have to watch the left movies.

The roles, responsibilities and interactions of artist, critic and public seem like fairly good fodder for real discussion (along with the inside jokes and sideways sniping).

I doubt I'll revisit it anytime soon but I'll get back to it sooner or later.
Not to mention, Harry Schein was Ingrid Thulin's husband.

Haha, noooo... its' a pretty great film, one of the more "mainstream" Bergman pictires. I prefer his darker, more serious work, but it's still better than most director's best films.

I thought I was the only one who thought Easy Rider was overrated a bit. Five Easy Pieces and The King of Marvin Gardens are all kinds of awesome, but Drive, He Said is not all that much better than A Safe Place. I've actually managed to watch A Safe Place twice, and it has improved, but not by much. Worst title in my CC collection of about 54-55 titles.

Well that's good to know. I'll let everyone know my thoughts in 3 to 4 weeks, as that's how long it's going to take for it come from the US to Canada, sadly.

WWJD?

They are both great...... Leon Morin Priest probably the more 'essential' for the "True" film fan, whatever that is...... but I think 3 Women is a more enjoyable-re-watchable film (blasphemy to many I know)

You picked up one movie, that already had a release (although not as good as this one according to reviews.... I've only seen the original, and haven't watched my new Criterion one yet) and made a 4 and 1/2 minute video for it!

I guess I don't have much to say, because I could probably film every case/disc I have for both BD and DVD and not take up 4:30

EDIT:

I didn't realize it had a poster..... and the sale is until 11.21.11 not the 27th

I liked Leon Morin, Priest, but you're right, it's definitely a very talk-y movie. I'd recommend seeing it before blind-buying it.

Thanks for the criticism.

And yes, I only picked up one movie because it was really the only one I knew of and liked.

I'm reflecting on how I likely butchered the quote..... (I just know the retort following the quote ) and I think I'm going to make this my movie to watch tonight.....

Long story short, my wife is out of town for a conference, so once the kids are in bed I can watch whatever I want AT WHATEVER VOLUME I WANT, without backlash, so with the fact that the audio drives this one, I think I'll give it a whirl since I haven't seen it in quite a long time.

If I don't get too sleepy (aka DRUNK .... like I said... when the cat's away ) I'll likely watch another one after that, but I can only guarantee myself one film on the night!

30 minutes until I put the kids in bed
