Indeed! I'm intrigued...

I also see soneone has put Monterey Pop as 3 films now, rather than two, because the second BD in the set, the Jimi and Otis one, technically has two films on it.
I really think that those should all be changed to just the title of the film. The second film in each title is just a supplement. It looks kind of stupid, to be honest.

Because he gets it from CriterionForum.

No, for some reason it was just funny reading it (hence why I said "For some reason"). But I got it off of CriterionForum.

I get other news from other places (for example, I seemed to be the only one on here watching that interview with Criterion where they announced titles like Apu Trilogy. Oh, I also confirmed Weekend from Janus sometime ago.) Just trying to inform this forum with other's news like other posters should do. We are a community of sorts that wants to know info.

First you said I shouldn't post info without a source, then call me out for sharing what other sites posted. If you knew about the other sources and find what I do silly because "I get it from CriterionForum", why would you need a source for what I said to start with?

Sounds fantastic, I would say I can't really wait but seeing how it is gonna take a lot time, I better keep myself not that "excited" (Just like with the Apu Trilogy, one of my most "anticipated" releases but not really eager at the moment ). Also, do you have a link to the interview/discussion? It would be really appreciated because I can't find it .

I signed up for a free week of hulu plus to check out movies in the Eclipse series. I think they are all on there, and this has been a great way to screen films from the sets.

So far my Eclipse damage has been:

The two I knew were must haves going into the sale:

Larisa Shepitko
The First Films of Samuel Fuller

Plus:

Nikkatsu Noir - was leaning toward this set anyway and all the recommendations here sealed the deal. I got it before I signed up for hulu plus.

The Warped World of Koreyoshi Kurahara
Oshima's Outlaw Sixties
Silent Naruse

Tonight I am screening Early Bergman and Basil Dearden's London Underground.

I just finished sampling the Bergman set and I dunno. Kind of on the fence with this one. All of them interested me enough to want to keep watching, but I am not sure there is enough there for me to want to rewatch them.

On to the Basil Dearden set.....I think I am enjoying picking up these Eclipse sets more than the mainline films this time around with the B&N sale. These sets are fantastic and it is a shame they may never see a blu-ray upgrade, or at least not for many years to come.

Do you mean the link to the Wender's The American Friend news today or the past Criterion interview with the Apu Trilogy, etc.?

Here is today's Wenders news:

http://hollywood-elsewhere.com/2011/...rs_pina_li.php

The Apu Trilogy/etc news was from a live stream about a month ago, so don't really have that. But I do have the list of films they announced:

Apu Trilogy, Anatomy of a Murder, more Godard, Hollis Frampton set, Boyle's Shallow Grave, and a Hal Ashby film TBA.

Hopefully CC can get the rights to "Thunder Road", a great moonshine film starring the late Robert Mitchum.
it's possible since it's a United Artists film.

I was referring to the Wender's interview so thanks a lot for the links ! Also, and commenting on the interview, can you imagine Pina getting a CC release in the future? It sounds pretty interesting, mainly because it is Wenders, but also for his use of 3D. Most of the time, I consider 3D a failed attempt to inmmerse me in a film (If the film itself is good enough I don't see the reason for such a gimmick) but Pina looks exciting.

I'm just new to Godard and want a your thoughts on what is essential Godard. BTW I loved Breathless and am slowly becoming a fan.

My favs are:

Les Carabiniers
La chinoise
Wind from the East
Vladimir And Rosa
Notre musique
Je vous salue Sarajevo
Le gai savoir
Weekend
numero deux

What I would say is "essential":

Breathless
Pierrot le fou
Notre musique
Contempt
Masculin féminin
Band of Outsiders
just about whatever you can get.

still haven't seen:

Nouvelle vague
Germany Year 90 Nine Zero

You should get Pierrot le fou. It's a great film.

I was reading the Criterion forum thread on the German Sound Box DVD and I think I want to add

Unter den Brücken

&

Ophul's Liebelei (not part of the box)

to my Criterion blu-ray wish-list (or Kino, Moc, or whomever).
