My predictions are the following...

- La Jetee/Sans Soleil (Already confirmed)
- World on a Wire
- Wild Strawberries
- The Gold Rush
- Bitter Rice
- Tiny Furniture

All but the last one should make February a complete winner. Something for everyone (Well, not for Anderson fans, but still ).

Oooh, I'd get Bitter Rice. I would want Anatomy of a Murder in Feb though, they did confirm it for 2012 apparently, someone said so in an older thread.

I'm going to go ahead and predict (hope for):

Y Tu Mama Tambien
Wild Strawberries
World on a Wire
Tiny Furniture
Le Samouraï
Gigli
Kazaam
Bucky Larson

Last three = (in case the joking tone didn't come across)

On (another) side note:

Broke down and bought Fanny and Alexander with the 25% off. Trying to save every sheckle I have, but it's hard to pass up such a coupon to use with a Bergman. I love me some Bergman.

Just give me another Fassbinder, and they can leave the Godard at home (Criterion is just going to release Godard films I already have anyways). I don't have World on a Wire yet.

Anyways what I would like to see from what I know they have:

The Chris Marker films
World on a Wire
Oshima Youth Trilogy
Mikhail Kalatazov's The Cranes are Flying upgrade and The Letter Never Sent that they have on Hulu.

8-9 films (depending on if the Oshima is actually 3 or 4 films. Don't know yet. It's The Sun's Burial, Night and Fog in Japan, and Cruel Story of Youth. But don't know if they have A Town of Love and Hope or The Rebel with it.).

I'm going to wager these;
World on a Wire
Tiny Furniture
City Lights
The Soft Skin
Wild Strawberries
San Soleil / That other one
Jules and Jim

A small January makes me think we are in store for a big February.

Those three - especially the Truffaut's - would make my day and be definites. That would be a fantastic month. Adding Le Samourai and dropping one of those others would be borderline orgasmic.

I'm not counting on it though.

There are still several clues hinted over the last couple of months that I have not seen on anyone's list.

Nanook of the North
Drunken Angel
and because Criterion always seems to combat Region B ouput sooner or later.
Two Lane Blacktop
Bicycle Thieves

This is where I usually say Drunken Angel but I was looking at the Stray Dog DVD at B&N a few days ago and now I can't get the idea of an upgrade out of my head.

I thought the conclusion was that the clue wasn't actually for Nanook of the North because no one was able to find the still they posted in the film. I could be remembering wrong though.

If you're thinking of the shot of the film canister the Drunken Angel hint was June or July 2010, I think. As per my above post, that doesn't keep me from obsessing about it but time does fly

I blind-bought Paths of Glory from the B&N sale and watched it last night. Wow, what a great film! I can't believe I never watched it before. Should I pick up The Killing / Killer's Kiss as well? I haven't seen either of them, but I haven't seen a Kubrick film yet I didn't like.

No question. Even after seeing all of Kubrick's popular films, which I love as well, I think The Killing may be my favorite.

agreed. I really hope they start bringing Yoshishige Yoshida releases soon though, again, Eros plus massacre being the most obvious .

I started watching Faces several weeks ago but had a little trouble getting into it, stopped and the recording got deleted before I get back to it. I'd say got at least a half hour in, perhaps a little longer (the three of them were in the apt after the drunken night out).

Does the Criterion DVD include different cuts of Faces? I thought I saw that somewhere but can't find it now.

If so, do you have any idea which cut TCM would be broadcasting and does it really matter?

If I were to ever get around to joining Blockbuster (any day now...no, really) and renting any or all of the Five Films discs where would you start?
