Yep. It's best to get it in store, if possible.

I'm not taking any chances on THREE COLORS. I opted for special order.

That's closer than me, Mine's 8 hours and 39 minutes away. I'd be commuting from Nova Scotia to Maine.

Brutal!

Well I have till Sunday to make up my mind about it. I might just take a chance and order it anyway. What's the worst that can happen? They cancel it? If they do it's no biggie, I might find it again in another sale if I really want it, won't lose sleep over it I guess

You basically write one long run-on sentence with no caps or other punctuation. Your posts are very difficult to read.

It is out of a desire to try and answer your questions here and in the sales thread that some people at least make the attempt to read your posts, including me. Just sayin'. No need to get pissy; we are all friends here.

You write like you have ADD and ask for advice on a film that will hold most people's attention. I find that kind of funny.

I would go with Pale Flower or one of the Melville or Clouzot films for foreign films with subtitles, if that is what you are after. They are definitely capable of keeping anyone's attention. You may already have some of these, I took a moment to look at your collection, but you have so many movies (congratulations on a fine collection), I decided I did not have the attention span to browse through them all to check.

Pale Flower
Diabolique
Wages of Fear
Army of Shadows
Le Cercle Rouge

I can also recommend Harakiri, which I would have chosen before Kagemusha, but I like Kagemusha too.

Other favorites of mine are:

Still Walking
The Secret of the Grain

Both of these are excellent family dramas that unfold at a measured pace, which means some people might call them slow. They hold my attention just fine. I have not heard of anyone on this thread hating on either one.

Another favorite of mine is Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence. It is a moving and often brutal portrayal of allied prisoners of the Japanese. It pulls no punches in showing the savage treatment of the prisoners at the hands of the guards, and the guards at the hands of their officers. But it is a deeper film, heavy with allegory, and is ultimately a tale of redemption with the prison camp used as a means of delivering the story.

I would strongly suggest signing up for a free week of hulu plus and taking some time to screen films you may have an interest in before buying. This will give you better answers than any member recommendation.
HEY!!! You making fun of the way I type posts...that's not very nice!!!!

Yeah, it's the only B&N in Maine too. It's in Augusta. There's none in Portland or Bangor, surprisingly.

Would anyone be interested in a Best of 2011 survey? I could whip up a Google form for easy use for all.

-Best new entry into collection
-Best re-issue
-Best Cover Art
-Most quotable br.com member

Yes, I know CF does their own but I think ours would be cool. Please post any question suggestions, too.

etc.

How about we add best special feature? You could have an awesome special feature, but not necessarily the best new entry/re-issue, or anything else. Perhaps you could include a list of all the 2011 releases, and have us pick which ones we purchases/pre-ordered, to see which release was the most popular, and which retailer sold the most copies of that title.

BTW BG, I just threw a comment below yours on that sale thread. What you put down was absolutely correct. It's laughable what some of those posts have in them. Their perception of value is funny.

It still hasn't stopped the hatred directed at me, and a few others. Thanks for the support though. I'm just happy B&N is having this sale. I've bought Criterions at full price. I try to get them for relatively cheap, but it's ultimately the film that matters to me. I just hope B&N decide to keep their sales going, despite the few who are ruining it for others.

To stop being so negative, I'll change the subject:

Only a little over a week before 12 Angry Men comes out, anyone else excited? Oh yea, Rushmore comes out too doesn't it? Any Rushmore fans eager about that?

That is far too easy. Killer's Kiss is the best "extra" hands down.

I certainly don't disagree with you, but not everyone liked Killer's Kiss. Perhaps some people liked Murder a la Mod, or the audio commentary on Fear & Loathing's reissue better.

What's wrong with Canucks on the internet? The Canadian gov't has done so much to bring us internet to our igloos.

Of course that's subjective, hence the wink. But you can't compare Kubrick with De Palma and as obscure as Murder a la Mod was/is, due to it's history, Killer's Kiss is a far more desired movie by fans IMO.
