Dude, last month the new titles went up at 5.30 pm - so quit bumping your post already.

As for the titles that already leaked and might or might not be in their February lineup: Three out of these five shall be mine! Make that four if a certain Fassbinder title is announced as well.

This is slightly off-topic but something I wanted to share with the fellow cineaste on this thread who are not just passionate about the films but are also interested in the filmmakers as well.

Kino has released a DVD (I know I lost some of you with those three letters...) titled "Great Directors" and it's about Angela Ismailos wanting the opportunity to interview ten filmmakers that inspired her. So, she created a documentary featuring that experience.

Many of the filmmakers have films that are in the Criterion Collection. Featured are Bernardo Bertolucci, David Lynch, Stephen Frears, Agnes Varda, Ken Loach, Liliana Cavani, Todd Haynes, Catherine Breillat, Richard Linklater and John Sayles.

Some of these filmmakers, I felt there was no chance in hell she would have gotten access but she did and what an entertaining and informative documentary it turned out to be.

And what I love about this release is that for the special features, included are the additional footage of the interviews with these filmmakers and I'm not talking short 5-10 minute long features, some of these interviews are a half hour to 50 minutes long.

And of course, with these filmmakers being interviewed, they also go into details of filmmakers that influenced them such as Ingmar Bergman, Francois Truffaut, Jean Luc Godard, WM Fassbinder and more.

Anyway, just wanted to plug this documentary. Yes, I know many of you don't buy DVD's anymore but for those who are interested, please check it out!
kndy...THANKS for checking in...it's always good to hear from you!

Sounds like a fascinating documentary. I don't know if I can speak for us all...but I have no problem with DVDs...especially if there is little or no chance of this doc coming to blu-ray.

Thanks for the heads up on this!

That's cool.

You know, impatience always gets the better of me as well when it comes to...

a) parcels from Amazon.com
2) Criterion announcement day
c) my cats not finishing their breakfast, which they need to have in separate rooms, when I really need to leave for the office.

I guess my point is: I hear you, man, but don't bump. I ain't bumping my cats either. Or parcels from Amazon.com, for that matter.

Bumping is annoying (with only putting bump and nothing else), but speculation and talk about the potential titles is more than welcomed. Talk about current collection titles is also welcomed.

That being said, I really, really, really, hope That the Criterion Cast aren't being jerks by posting teasers for
[Show spoiler]Anatomy of A Murder
, and it is coming out.

I know! If that title and the Fassbinder are the only two announced, I'd be as happy as a pig in shit.

Hey, and bumping still isn't as bad as people whining every month about Fincher's The Game not being included with the new announcements. Those guys are not film connoisseurs. At. All.

Oh, and DionJP, I might come across as acerbic, grumpy and random, but believe me: it's all in good fun. I was smiling as I typed.

Anyone know of any online B&N coupon codes to use in conjunction with the sale? Thanks!

Go to the "juvenile, asinine, troll-filled" Criterion sale thread under hot deals, there's info there. I've given up posting in it, as it's that ridiculous.

All joking/insults aside of that thread, I think the best you'll get is 7% or 5% off your total order, as the 10% off your order ended last week, and the 25% off one item coupon ended Sunday. There's supposedly a 40% off one item coupon coming Thursday. The 7% and 5% codes are on the first page of the thread.

I just placed my order for the 2 releases today(non-member) and used the code below for 10% off. A more than fair discount, but not up to the $10 a title standards needed for the sale thread.... Enjoy...

I saw the tweets Rocket Man mentioned here, but haven't seen the Fassbinder mention yet.

Gasp! You used a coupon! Don't you know that if you can't get films for 10 dollars you're supposed to hate all the coupons and not use any at all? Also, apparently you aren't even allowed to buy Criterions at any less than MSRP! You're just so terribly jealous of them all.

At least that's what the jackanapes would say in the other thread.

Le procès and Welt am Draht for February? Another dreamy month! Hope it's true! Wouldn't mind La Jetée as well.

That would be heavenly. The current Blu-ray looks just flat out awful.

Would anyone happen to know if these titles are forthcoming for Blu-ray?

Letters from Fontainhas
3 Silent Classics
L' enfance nue
The Only Son/There Was a Father
Louie Bluie

These were the last DVD only releases by Criterion. And also, what about Roberto Rosselini's War Trilogy?

There were different codes. The one was thinking of, and used on my first two orders, expired last Tuesday.
