I'm pretty sure you meant This instead of Joe Dirt for #599

Hey BG...I know you're just joking But I'll speak for some of us on this forum. I'm a B & N member and pay the $25 every year. My wife and I are frequent customers in their stores and spend decent money. It's a YMMV on the coups (depending on the store/cashier), but if you're able to get an additional discount by the use of coupons, then what's the harm? I'm spending money in their store and am promoting any and all blu-ray/DVD sales they may run.

Are you going to ask those that got the post-sale preorders for 50% off to cancel their orders?

wow, its not enough but u have to ruin 2 threads with your nonsense? you really need to get

stop trying to drag this whole forum thru your collective mud-filled tirades.

and all the name calling is juevenile.

the other thread is about the sale, i think talk about coupons and deals are most welcomed there.

then theres this thread. all are free to talk about the films themselves.

then theres you, you have to cause trouble in both threads. i sincerely think you will be shut down soon. because its not positive and you are putting off bad energy..

Rich, I picked up the 3 Colors set (One of my more anticipated releases this year) and decided to upgrade my Rules and see how much of an improvement it is. If it is not a huge improvement, I will sell it and recoup my funds on it.
As for the coupon BS, I understand your point, but I also know that you will not sit and wait for the next 'super-sale' to buy another release, as you enjoy the films for what they are. The people in the sale forum, from what I am reading, do not seem like fans or lovers of the films, but rather people that want to get a 'deal'. The fact that they can 'wait' on a film for 6+ months to purchase at a better price (at $15 or less) is pointless if you enjoy the film. Seems, as according to their collection link, that they have no problem paying $15 or so for 'Green Lantern', but not a Criterion release. This has frankly led me to believe that they will buy at the low price and sell for profit, which is fine, but apparently the abuse has led to B&N to discontinue coupon use in-store for many customers. I think that sort of wraps it up....

dwane, the problem with the sale thread has been the breaking of the coupon/deal thread rule on this forum that BG pointed out a day or so ago. Beta and other mods have been pretty good about letting the sale thread have free reign, but when it gets into that gray area, posters need to calm down.

See, you're reasonable about the whole thing. A lot of people in the other forum aren't being reasonable about it.

I don't have an issue with use of coupons if you are reasonable about it. Some of those posters did 5-6 transactions in a row to get all their titles for 10, or had a manager come and override the clerk when they were denied. That's not reasonable. That draws attention to yourself, and causes coupons to be ruined for everyone. Once or twice, or don't do the transactions in a manner that will draw attention to yourself, and if you're rejected, just say fine. The coupon does have regulations, and B&N isn't inforcing them in a manner they should. It's slightly dishonest to use a coupon that was intended for one time use one two more times, but no one is 100% ethical. However, using it like 5 times or more in a row is just low. Just because there's a loophole, doesn't mean you have to exploit that loophole so much that it ruins the fun for everyone.

The 50% off pre-orders is a little different, as a lot of people didn't think it was a mistake at first, and that B&N were trying to compete with Amazon. However, if someone had ordered 5 or 6 copies of every single pre-order, that would again, be abusing the system.

Again, I have no problems with the coupons, I have problems with people who will only buy because of the coupons, and could potentially cause the whole 50% off sale to not occur.

I said the samething in the actual thread. I have never seen so many people so interested in Criterion before. I even saw a few comments like this

"I usually don't buy Criterion movies cause it's mostly for snobs but at this price I will buy" Wow!!! Real fan of movies I see

Criterion rescues Public Domain films as a charity service, but movies with owners is another kettle of fish.
I find it very likely that Criterion will aquire access to the BFI's recent restorations of what they term the Hitchcock 9. I would very much like to see that. It would make a awesome boxset. Are you listening Criterion?

As far as gangster films I'd love to see Hawk's Scarface get a HD treatment.
i still find it better then Underworld simply because of Muni's and Raft's performances. Plus a little Karloff throw in.

After the recent tweet from Criterion about Louis Brooks any chance we might see a Pandora's Box Bluray?

Well that's a bit presumptuous. I love the films that I buy from Criterion a great deal and yes, I mostly buy them during the Criterion sale. If you're able to buy it immediately then good for you, but the way I see it, the money I could save from the sale could be used to buy other movies that I like. Besides, these are movies I've already seen before so I don't see the rush.

Criterion Cast has one more on their tumbler:
[Show spoiler] World on a Wire

Not surprising, but exciting. I am curious which titles turn out to be true.

You forgot to use "spoilers, sweetie!"

When was the last time Criterion released a Godard anyways? They should be due for one soon. Any preferences *Dr. Strangelove*?
