It's a region B title, anyway, so that might stop you from looking into it.

BFI has released a lot of other great films on blu-ray that are region-free, though, if you haven't already looked into them.
Haha, region B won't stop me, but price might at the moment. I need to sink about 800 bucks into my car. I'm quite happy to do so, as I'm really not enjoying this public transit thing. It wasn't bad as a student, but now that I have my own vehicle, I hate it.

I invested in a region-free player back in June, and have only bought 2 titles so far. I've been trying to catch up on some of my major Criterion titles first. I did take a look at some of the BFI titles, and must have overlooked The Innocents.

Do you at least have it in SD? There's still a ton of great stuff on there. I think I have 30 some films set to record for this week alone. Pandora's Box was on yesterday morning actually, and next Monday, Kiss Me Deadly and Paths of Glory are on back to back.

And it was recently restored by Rialto, making it Criterion property.
(Just watched it on Netflix a few months ago: Welles wanted to emphasize the point that Kafka allegory was "dreamlike", and ends up doing the best REM-state dream-film imitation since "Eraserhead"...Citizen Kane and Third Man style, of course.

The Twits also put "Vanya on 42nd St." on the list, which, although it isn't actually a sequel to "My Dinner With Andre" per se, is usually paired with the original for completism. Criterion's dipped MDwA enough times, you know they'd jump for it.
(It is pretty good, btw, as we get to see "mad" Andre Gregory directing, and a peek at pre-"Inconceivable!" Wally Shawn, back when he was a serious off-Broadway actor who could do Chekov. )

I'm not a Face-slave, btw, so I don't get to see these picture hints, but I love Criterion riddles:
Can anyone repost a few of the ones we've gotten, as an 11th-hour recap?

I wonder if Criterion have the Janus poster for the cover art to World on a Wire. I myself actually hope they changed it up, maybe more "Fassbinder-y" with a colorful melodramatic screenshot.

The poster is the poster. Dillinger, Vivre sa vie, etc has been changed.

Most picture/drawing hints always come in the newsletter that Criterion sends out. If you're not signed up, you can from their website. The first page of this thread has some of the older pictures posted. Most of the other Twitter/Facebook photo hints are usually posted by someone at some point, but you might have to slog back through some pages to find them.

I believe he means the picture hints that CC posts to their fb page, like The Lady Vanishes and Rushmore from a previous month, or the Black Moon cover teases, etc.

Now I guess you'll go tell him to stop being lazy and create his own damn fb account and stop asking silly questions on your forum...or something to that effect.

Actually, my first exposure to Wallace Shawn was when he played Mr. Hall from Clueless, and that silly movie House Arrest.

No word from CC yet, I hope it's not another late announcement like last month.

I'm gonna save all of those remarks for you. You're bound to do something I disapprove of at some point.

CC, he still hasn't posted the announcements. His slacking is not acceptable...

I really hope Vanya on 42nd Street is for real, as I think it might be the only "good" filmed Chekhov I've ever seen. And I dearly love Chekhov.

+1. But I can bet you many will dislike it at first, not being the poster. I just don't see anything great about it for a cover. It's a great poster.

Well...we knew those already. They were up on the BR.com news blog a month ago.
(And still think the Godzilla looks like an Asylum cover...We need iconic B/W!)
