Can't say I'm thrilled about it. I had no interest in seeing it before, and just because it had a "wacky C" on it, doesn't mean I'm interested in it now. People pretty much knew it was coming eventually, since there's already been an entry created for it on this site under Criterion, and they screened it this year.

Probably that's it. The Cameron Diaz character is a vet and has a monkey, and the John Cusack character is a puppeteer. Makes sense.

Being John Malkovich is one of my favorite movies. Definitely wouldn't mind upgrading my HD-DVD.

Charlie Kaufman is my favorite screenplay writer.

I'm not a big fan of Berlin Alexanderplatz and am wary of blind-buying Despair, but the BRD Trilogy and Ali: Fear Eats The Soul would be great, as would In A Year With 13 Moons, The Third Generation or Fox and His Friends (not to be confused with "Fox & Friends").
I LOVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE Berlin Alexanderplatz (re-watched the entire thing actually last week). BUT, I most likely won't upgrade it. Just spending another 100+ on something just......let's not think about it.

I'm more of a Fassbinder fan of 1977-later, with The Stationmaster's Wife (can't wait for Olive Films to release the full T.V. cut), In A Year With 13 Moons, The Third Generation, Despair, Berlin Alexanderplatz, Querelle, BRD, etc.

I really hope one day someone will release Women in New York. Lili Marleen I believe is in Criterion's hands.

I'm no John Malkovich film fan either, so you are not alone. I am more excited about the Robert Downey Sr film(s) when they showed Putney Swope (one of my fav Comedy films ever).

I caught it on TV many years ago and thought it was crazy fun. Especially the half floor in the building.

Or maybe Terry Gilliam's original studio-butchered 1 Monkey?

Sheesh, a clue two days after a Monthly announcement. I can't say I've seen that Harrison Ford film, is that the one where he gives that serious speech and points his finger at the monkey puppet and says, "how dare you sir!"?

Berlin Alexandersplatz will never look or sound as good as it does with the DVD and it has already been painstakingly restored back in 2006. The differences would be teeny tiny.

Now that there's another 15% coupon up for B&N, I'm tempted to make another order: the Yojimbo/Sanjuro combo pack. Any thoughts on the qualities of the films? I love old-school spaghetti westerns and samurai flicks are awesome - good blend of the two I'm assuming?

Sounds about right. Although, my favorite played-to-death trailer quote is "GIVE ME BACK MY SON!" from Ransom/Mel Gibson. Runner up is "WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM ME!" Last Samurai/Tom Cruise.

I'm betting the next CC Fassbinder will be Lili Marleen, In a Year With 13 Moons, or Querelle...most likely the latter since Columbia/Sony have zilch, zero, zip interest in taking their catalogue titles to Blu.

I went to B&N last night and the place had been raided. There was little to choose from but I did a blind buy on Yojimbo and Sanjuro.

Interestingly, I just watched that on Netflix within the past 10 days.

I found it really terrible, even though the concept maybe could have worked. The monkey(s) offered the best performances I think
