![]() In a completely different note, today I had the opportunity of seeing Los Olvidados in a theater close to my home. Can't believe how powerful Buńuel's masterpiece turns out in the big screen. For anyone in this forums who has yet to see it, I can't recommend it enough. Such a magnificent (But way overlooked) film. |

BTW, I just caught While the City Sleeps a few nights ago and it might have knocked Laura down to my second favorite Vincent Price role. It's weird, too...it was filmed more than ten years after Laura but he seems ten years younger. |

I don't like Fellini's films. I've really tried, but don't like his films. I'm glad I own 8 1/2, and it is the only of his films that I can appreciate. I really didn't like Amarcord or La Strada. I prefer Micheal Bay or Roland Emmerich. Seriously. Don't like Fellini and wanted to get that off my chest.

I don't like Bergman's films. I've really tried, but don't like his films. I'm glad I own The Seventh Seal, and it is the only film of his that I can appreciate (I suppose I saw it at the right place and time).

Ok, just kidding....I have seen The Ten Commandments, but not in years (have not watched my newly acquired BD yet). I said I did not recall seeing Vincent Price in anything except horror - I forgot he was in TTC. What I really want is The Abominable Dr. Phibes on blu-ray. I would like some of his other horror classics too (The Tingler, The Fly, Theatre of Blood, the Roger Corman films, etc). But Phibes is just so darn awesome. Love means never having to say you're ugly. [Show spoiler]

I've watched Persona and liked it but its not really a film you would rewatch (actually now that I think about it, I kind of wanna watch it again)...well it doesn't have much to any replay value. Maybe a movie you watch once a year. I felt the same way about Through a Glass Darkly. The Passion of Anna bored me to death (don't know how I went through it). It's what's kept me from blind buying The Seventh Seal and The Magician.

A quick aside for Carlos fans - I just finished The Baader-Meinhof Complex and it was quite good. It was very well made and very engrossing.
The various action sequences (chases, shootouts, assassinations, etc) sometimes seemed a little...dramatized isn't the right word but they did rely heavily on action film conventions and styles that at least made them occasionally seem like fiction. I don't know much about the actual events so I can't say whether or how many liberties they took but the one supplement I've watched so far made them all seem pretty committed to not playing too fast and loose with persons or events. It's well worth a look. |

I cut it out (with the plastic still on the underside) and stick it between the plastic and coverart.

![]() Also, Leave Her to Heaven is an excellent noir. I think it would fit well within the Criterion Collection. Last edited by BohemianGraham; 12-08-2011 at 09:37 AM. |

Just picking one new spine request would be really tough...
Selfish choice that will likely get a good-to-very-good release from somebody else so why bother except I'd freaking love for them to do it: Double Indemnity, Glengarry Glen Ross, Seven Days in May, Shadow of a Doubt Selfish choice that will probably never get even a decent upgrade to the absymal DVD: Charley Varrick Semi-campy, Semi-cool stylish 80s horror: The Hunger (I could definitely see this one happening someday), The Lair of the White Worm (bonus: Ken Russel), Cat People God I wish Warner would let stuff go: Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolfe, Rope Last edited by octagon; 12-08-2011 at 09:10 PM. |

![]() Also, I'm assuming you meant the original Val Lewton version of Cat People, because that one was awesome. Speaking of TCM, I was just browsing through to see what's coming on over the next few weeks, and noticed that Fanny and Alexander (the short version) is coming on the 19th, at 2:30 AM, EST. TCM has it listed for the 18th, because it comes on "late at night/early in the morning." I'll set it to PVR once my guide updates to go that far ahead. ![]() |
