I have the Tartan blu of Seventh Seal and it's good, but I prefer the Criterion release. It does, however, include Karin's Face, a 14 min short made by Bergman and a few diff extras.

Cool. I didn't realize you were an old-timer. I'll be turning 32 next Sunday, so for the majority of the time that Criterion was producing all those great laserdisc releases, I was unable to have any kind of substanial income to acquire any of those releases... let alone, a laserdisc player. Actually, I didn't even know about Criterion until they released the original "Salo" DVD, and that ended up being my first Criterion purchase and I've never looked back.

I love Dolce Vita and I wish Criterion would obtain the rights! Although I love 8 1/2 as well!

I know this sounds really stupid, but I'm kinda disappointed because I was expecting the nice Olive-green Criterion logos like in the preview photos. Minor complaint, though

Did I miss something? Are all the clear cases available to order now? Last I heard, the only one available was for The Third Man and it sold out... I'm hoping to replace all of my cardboard cases (hopefully, they release a new case for Benjamin Button as well)

Yes, you did miss something. Go back a couple of pages and you'll find the answers you seek.

From the Criterion Current post...

Quote:
As for other Kurosawa plans, we had hoped to celebrate the actual centenary, in March, with a Blu-ray edition of Seven Samurai, but weeks of additional restoration have turned into months—yes, it looks really amazing—and the release won’t be until later in 2010. Instead, on March 23, we’ll be releasing Kurosawa’s Yojimbo and Sanjuro. They look great, too.
So, no "Seven Samurai" blu-ray for March for all of those hopeful souls out there.

That is amazing news. Sad about Seven Samurai, but way to get some out there anyway. Great find ccfixx.

Shame about Seven Samurai but good news nonetheless, I'm in for some Mifune action.

I don't suppose we'll get the full width of the movies this time?

If Seven Samurai isn't available, I wish they would release High and Low. For purely selfish reasons, actually -- I have already bought Yojimbo and Sanjuro from them twice (the originals and the anamorphic re-releases) and can't really imagine doing it again.

It's good news even if it's not in March. This mean's I will have Seven Samurai on BD at this time next year

Yep, I'm also interested in seeing if there will be any other blu-ray announcements from Criterion when they actually update their site with March's releases this week.

I could see Yojimbo and Sanjuro being packaged together (like CHE) since they did so with the dvd set, and have 2 other blu's that month as well.

I revieved the 400 blows and kagemusha today. Kagemusha is in 14mm clear plastic case but the 400 blows came in the papercase. I am going to wait for the other 6 CC movies I order to arrive then order clear case/s for it(incase i get more papercase ones). its still a good deal $16.99+$5 considering I bought my first CC blu for $34.99.

has anyone bought seven samurai animated series?
