You've figured it out!

Again, sorry. I'll try to refrain from the extensive maths unless someone asks me.

I see your point though. Sorry about the math. Sometimes I can get carried away.
That's ok. You're far more civil about it than some of the people in the 50% off thread when the sale was going on.

I also try to save money, but at the same time, I'm more than willing to pay a higher price for something if I really, really, love it. Like Kuroneko. I ordered it from Amazon Canada, because it was only a difference of 2 bucks compared to the US Amazon's price once shipping and other fees were tacked on. It was still a pretty horrible price compared to what I would have paid for it at B&N, but I really wanted the film, and received it today. I couldn't wait for it, and I wasn't about to wait for another B&N sale to get it, since they goofed in the first place, and I probably wouldn't be able to get it for almost another year. I guess I just think the film is more important than the price, although the price helps.

Even though I got Kuroneko in the mail today, I can't actually watch it for another week, because I'm not going home again until the 19th due to the plethora of holiday cheer and celebrations. Maybe, just maybe, my mother will come in for shopping, and bring it in to me. I've waited this long, so I suppose I can wait a few more days if I have to. It was the film i was anticipating the most out of the sale too.

I'll admit sometimes I blind buy a film, but I am trying to decrease my urge and stick to my wish list. I have a spreadsheet of 7 movies I want between now and February 2012. I am also running out of shelf room,

Sometimes I look at my collection and think "Is there something wrong with me?" This place makes me feel like I am normal. People come over and cannot believe how many movies I have. To each their own I guess. There is just something about watching a great film that really makes me happy. Anyways, enough of my rambling. Hope you enjoy your purchase!

Most of my Criterions are blind buys that I bought on sale. The ones that weren't blind buys, I paid more for. I'm cutting back to a max of 2 films a month, as I need to start saving for important things.

There are about 17 Criterions (currently, subject to change once I watch a few of them, and/or March's offerings look interesting) that I'm interested in getting, along with a few more that I may pick up at a later date, but aren't a major priority.

The main reason I do the math out is to figure out what my total should be before going to the store. I usually reserve titles for pickup at my local Barnes & Noble so to have an idea what my total would be means I can pick up on mistakes the cashier might make.

Seems kind of anal, but it beats having to drive back after getting home, looking at the receipt and releasing a mistake was made.

Well, it's DVD size height-wise but there's two, single-width cases in the box which house 4 discs. One for the sci-fi films and one for the horror flicks.

Ok, thanks. Maybe it was just me...it looked a bit taller.

I do like that set, however. I stumbled upon it once while looking through Criterion.com and it is one set I have never seen at any local store.

Just saw Stray Dog and thought it was amazing. I'm really hoping for an upgrade for this one. I've been on a Kurosawa kick. Im gonna try to watch all his films (atleast the ones with Toshiro Mifune in them). Next up is Drunken Angel.

I know they are hardly related at all, but I'm comparing them simply because of the 2+ hour run time and Brad Pitt as a lead, butttt...I'd rather sit in my bedroom and watch The Curious Case of Benjamin Button repeatedly than re-watch Tree of Life a second time.

Bears repeating. Although I first thought he said Straw Dogs, but then I read the rest of his sentence talking about Kurosawa, so I can see how someone might make that mistake.

I'm curious, what do 8 1/2 fans think of Stardust Memories?
Stardust Memories is criminally underrated. Generally, those who really like Woody's work love Stardust Memories.

Fan: I love your films! You have such a degenerate mind!
Sandy Bates: Oh....... thank you.

Then there's the time Sandy's chauffeur is pulled over and arrested for mail fraud. The cops ask Sandy why he has a gun and he says it's in case of Nazis.

It's superb. I love everything by Wong Kar-Wai (yep, even My Blueberry Nights), and this along with In the Mood for Love, is his finest work. I highly recommend it.
