This is how I feel, which makes me wonder why any $10 or other amount of compensation is necessary
It definitely assures those receiving the $10 will buy from Criterion.com. The margin on things sold in their dot com store has gotta be about 90%. It's a win for them.

So I posted my second Criterion review, this time for Island of Lost Souls. It's certainly an interesting one. I'm glad CC put so much time into restoring this, though I appreciate it more for it's historical importance than for it's artistry. Love to hear what others have to say. I love to get feedback. Of course, negative feedback is welcome, but please don't vote my review down just because you see I like a movie that you didn't or vice versa (or worse I liked it but not as much as you did). It's the content of a review that counts.

Small note, in the last sentence of my review I say Island of Lost Souls is not "the holy grail of B&W horror." I didn't remember that the other user review used similar wording in their first sentence calling it "the Holy Grail of pre code horror films on home video." Didn't mean for my review to sound like a rebuttal. Just want to be clear on that.

It wasn't Holy Grail as in "Best ever made not on Blu yet" (that was Bride of Frankenstein ), it was Holy Grail as in "Rarest and most impossibly sought-after, since we didn't think a complete print could still be found on the face of the earth".
Which, at that time, it certainly was.

Just drove by my local Blockbuster which is going out of business. I just called to see what percentage off their BD's are so far and It's only 10%. They carry Criterions, which isn't popular amongst the normal Blockbuster going-Joe, so I'm gonna wait until it's like 50-70% off and snatch me up some Criterions for cheap.

The reason I am posting it here (besides obvious reasons of me and my love for the movie) is he is actually making some progress. Supposedly he has had Sam Fuller's (who is in the film) wife Christa Fuller, and Tom Farrell, one of Nicholas Ray's assistants sign this petition.

So anybody that wants to help, you can sign it too. I figure I will help him out by posting it here, since I want it released as well.

Ok, I'm back. Would you pick M or Thin Red Line if you could only choose one?

I signed the petition by the way..... although the additional petitions it then asked me to sign were laughable.

I'd pick The Thin Red Line, but they are both great movies and BD releases.

Thanks, and after I signed it I just logged off. We care about movies not bus stops.

That's all true, but it is considered to be a masterful film, even as an example of propaganda. I don't see how it's all that different than "Birth of A Nation". I can hate the message, but respect the filmmaking and its place in history.
