A question to Masters of Cinema collectors,

Not the blu-rays since I already know, but are their dvds region free?

I was really wanting to get Maurice Pialat's "Nous ne vieillirons pas ensemble", Jean-Pierre Melville's "Le Silence de la mer", and some Lang films.

Thanks.

They sometimes have region coding on their DVD's. In the cases of the two you mention, they are both encoded Region 2 and in the PAL format. Some of their films are encoded in NTSC as well though, but it usually depends on the source material, as they don't usually transcode from PAL -> NTSC or vice versa from the source materials. Hope that helps, but I do heartily recommend Le Silence de la Mer. As for the Pialat, I haven't seen that one yet, but all of the other films of his they have released have been outstanding so far.

Well I'm happy: Picked up 3 Criterion Blus today during Best Buy's 20% off. Got Last Metro, Repulsion & In the Realm of the Senses. Only Repulsion I've seen before, so hopefully the others will be winners. Up to 12 Criterion blus now.

I received the second part of my Barnes and Noble order yesterday. Funny, I ordered three different times and this one was the third one. I have yet to get the second part of the order. Anyway, I checked Howard's End for the anomalies some people post about and I didn't find any when I quickly searched through the movie. Does anyone have a specific timeframe when this happens, or is it the entire movie that has those artifacts?

Yeah I know what the axe was and heard about the Summer Hours one. The baby thing sounds right. Four Feathers though I don't know about yet.

Just did a refresh on DVDBeaver's website and Paris, Texas review appeared.

link

Remember seeing this when it first came out, at the Denver International Film Festival, recall Harry Dean Stanton and/or Wim Wenders appearing in person. (Wonder just how good my memory really is...)
