Note: I like them all, but The Leopard is in my all-time top ten. Beware though: it's not for everyone.
I think I'm going with The Leopard and Sweet Smell of Success, along with The 400 Blows. Breathless and Alexanderplatz both sold out while I was getting ready to check out.

Thanks!

Rosemary's Baby
Picnic at Hanging Rock (just got the Second Sight release, it's excellent)
Stray Dog
Charley Varrick
Timecrimes
I'm hoping what ever demons you use are reliable, as it was you, I do believe, who predicted Anatomy of a Murder from the drunk dog clue, and we ended up predicting it for this month as well.

Also, are you referencing Good Omens with your demon driving abilities comment?

Didn't realize there was a $10 off coupon as well. Rats.. Also I never sent in my White disc so I never got that coupon either. I was waiting for the Carlo replacement to do both at the same time.

I used the sale to finally picked up Leon Morin. Love Melville, but was holding back on this due to the apparently long philosophical discussions and minimal plot. Hopefully I'll be pleasantly surprised. Also got Au Revoir Les Enfants. Never noticed it had Chaplin's The Immigrant as a bonus feature!. Also picked up Traffic. The main titles I wanted are all Preorders.

Oh, I suppose you want three reasons?

Fine. Tiger Blood.

Actually, a decade ago there were actually some interesting films being made by American directors.
Are we done with the whining about whining about whiners?

Also, I was pre-emptying any of the whining about today's announcements, as there's going to be a ton of complaints such as that regarding whatever is announced, because Criterion apparently only releases garbage as of late.

At least we agree on something.

If they announce Summer with Monika, Being John Malkovich and Les enfants du Paradis it will be a very good month. Two out of three ain't bad.

Actually we don't. I don't really enjoy BJM, but some people do, so therefore, it's not "garbage" to them. Just don't buy the stuff you don't like, but don't complain about it when Criterion releases it for others. Hence my snarky eye roll and "Why, Criterion why" comment, because as stated, there will be a ton of those, like it is every month.

I am amused by people's response to this sale. Just shows how people are more interested in the price than the item. Criterion will even take care of all the customers who want items that are OOS, and they still complain.

I know...and you should see, if you haven't already, facebook's Criterion wall. Holy god. People are ridiculous. I'm glad they are accommodating the whiners; it shows what a class act they really are, being a small independent company and all. And these people just sit there and whine and whine like they are the ONLY person who is ordering a movie and THEY should be able to get through a site where millions of people are trying to do the same thing.

Maybe they weren't hugged enough as kids, who knows?

Criterion should announce a Fear and Loathing.../Rum Diary double pack today!! It would even throw all the spine numbers out of whack!!

I stay away from FB at all costs, as that is another discussion. Yes Italy, where are the announcements, you are late!!! Just make sure Bicycle Thieves is in it, because I don't know if I can hold out another month. I may be forced to pick up the Arrow release...

Criterion announced the announcements will be "later than usual". So I guess this means 10pm?

I have no problem with people disliking the films, but to say they don't belong in the collection because you don't like it is stupid. You don't run Criterion, they can add what they want. Don't like it, don't buy it, but don't try to say Criterion shouldn't be releasing these films because of your dislike for them, when others may want them. Criterion is not the be all and end all of home media release, you're not going to die if you have to go buy a release of Picnic at Hanging rock from another company, because Criterion chose to release The Hottie and the Nottie, or some other film. Too many people seem to think Criterion is here to cater to their every whim, and pander to them, and them alone. Gimme this release, gimme that release, your website sucks because it crashed when I wanted to buy stuff cheap, gimme, gimme, gimmme Criterion! You're not giving me what I want, so you suck! Wah wah wah!

Why not? I probably wouldn't buy it, but there are some people who will, because it has a wacky C on it. It'd probably be an Eclipse set. The Ernest films are somewhat popular, and defined a cultural era of sorts. You can make up several reasons as to why Criterion would add it. It's their choice. Complaining about it doesn't do any good, you won't get the films you want any faster, nor will Criterion recall the release and give you what you want.
