I've been very close as well. I bought Hidden a couple weeks ago and just watched Blue a night or two ago and CC was absolutely going to make its way into my next Amazon.uk order.

Hell, it still might. It's only like ten-twelve bucks US before shipping.

What's ironic BG, is my point about Criterion listening to people's complaints. I guess they heard the ones about Certified Copy. See the Internet does work..

I am ecstatic about this release. Hopefully it has better extras than the AE release which has a trailer and a "making of". If it is one of the bare bones $30 releases I might be a little ticked.

Who's to say the didn't already have it planned before the "complaints?" Maybe they chose to acknowledge those who requested the title, rather than those whining about Tiny Furniture. Criterion didn't cancel Tiny Furniture to release Certified Copy yesterday, it's coming in May.

Also, we have somone complaing because Criterion decided to release it instead of something they want. It's still illustrating my point that people are wanting too much from Criterion, and are complaining no matter what they do.

Criterion can't win - you can't please everybody - damned if they do, damned if they don't - too many cooks spoil the blah blah blah

Even though there's some degree of truth to of all of that this looks at best like a case of right church, wrong pew.

One poster has said Certified Copy is a waste and has a offered a pretty reasonable basis for that opinion.

So what?

Other posters aren't going to share that opinion but again, so what?

A lot of people loved the Fear and Loathing and Dazed & Confused and Traffic announcements.

A lot of other people shrugged and thought 'say, don't these all have BD releases already and doesn't Traffic suck anyway' (okay, that last part was mine but still)

So what?

I literally just got the Artificial Eye release of Certified Copy in my mailbox yesterday. I'd say I will return it, but hell, it'd cost more to ship it back to the UK than what I paid for it.

Looking forward on seeing, well I saw The Age Of The Medici but that was such a long time ago on Radio Canada in the early 80's. The other two are blind buy of sort (breaking my rule) but I am not too worry.

Gold Rush would be great but it seem from what I am seeing that we won't know till tomorrow now

Not to complaint or take a shot at Criterion but seriously in the last two days, it's been rather embarassing for them.

Me too. I was very excited for a minute. I'm down for Certified Copy, but I'm looking for some announcements that truly excite me.

I've been interested in everything this year as I always am, but the only 2 titles to really get me going for this year have been Godzilla & Belle De Jour.

Best release announcement so far (From what we know is coming in May). Can't believe they actually went forward with Certified Copy . More Kiarostami is needed, now, what about pairing up this release with the Koker Trilogy? That would kill me . The only sad thing about all of this is that we know almost everything they are going to announce already. Summer with Monika, Being John Malkovich and Certified Copy are already confirmed, The Gold Rush is VERY likely, so, what is left? What about the upgrade !!? Completely in with Certified Copy and Summer with Monika. They shoud upgrade Taste of Cherry to go along with it. One of my favorite films.

With all the new titles I'd be surprised for the Koker Trilogy to be added as well, maybe a Taste of Cherry upgrade?

I think it is interesting that Tiny Furniture sold out. Not interesting enough to resurrect the previous discussion, but worth mentioning.

Also, does anyone have the Lubitsch Musicals Eclipse set? Any thoughts they would like to share are appreciated.

Since it is the latest release, I think it would have sold out no matter what film it was.... it meant being one of the best deals.

So the box should say whether or not it is a second printing?

Now, after thinking better about it, I am kind of getting excited about the possibility of a Taste of Cherry upgrade. It would be great to pair it up with Certified Copy and looking from what we already now, everything left should be upgrades (Or at least I hope they are). Maybe, Wild Strawberries and Taste of Cherry ?

President at Criterion called Certified Copy "lesser Kiarostami" at one point, so I'm guessing the backlash helped.

Looks like May will be a meh month from what we know so far....I'll drown my tears in my copy of World on a Wire next week.

Maybe to him it is. Kiarostami has been making films for 42 years, so he has a pretty large output. Maybe that's why it was put on hold until May, because he saw it as a lesser film than Close Up, or even a completely different film by a completely different director.

May looks somewhat interesting to me. Not a fan of some of the films that are pretty much confirmed, but others are, and are really glad to be getting them.

I'm guessing so, none of their IFC releases have had a ton of supplements.
