My "Anatomy of a Murder" and "World on a Wire" both "Shipped" and are due to arrive tomorrow. I guess they shipped on Saturday (via Prime) (and yes.... at the $16.99 price)

[Show spoiler]

I actually thought it was rather well done. Mumblecore, yes, but an assured film. Was it a masterpiece? No. Did I enjoy it? Yes. I thought it was quite witty, had nice naturalistic performances and I laughed out loud a few times. Lena made some quite brave performances particularly with her own character.

In the end, I thought it was a wonderful package. I felt like I was seeing a girl with some innate talent growing in the work from short to mid-length feature and to first full length (and quite professional looking) film.
I'm with you!

I watched Tiny Furniture Saturday night in lieu of going out with friends (trying to save money anyways) followed by Traffic (was a late night )

It wasn't anything brilliant, and the dialogue seemed forced quite often (younger sis needs to take some classes ) but I thought the drab and dreary mother was fantastic.

I didn't dig into the supplementals, but I hope the videos of her "You Tube" stuff that they showed during the film weren't her actual videos, because that was quite scary!

Traffic was viewed before, and owned on DVD actually, but it had been a long time since I had viewed it, and I really didn't expect to finish it since it was so late when I started it, but I really enjoyed it as well.

Of course, 'soon' could still turn out to be Weds or Thurs.
strangely, i received a text message stating my order was on its way. while the amazon order page states shipping soon.

Just received notice that both world on a wire and anatomy shipped as well for the $16.99 price. I have prime and last year when i lived in Alhambra, i got almost all of my tuesday movies a day early. After i moved to South Pasadena (literally 10 minutes away) everything now comes on tuesday.

Both my $16.99 titles are still 'shipping soon' (I have prime as well). About the day early thing...it alternates between releases for me. I get some pre-orders on Monday, some on Tuesday. Earlier this month, La Jetee/Sans Soleil arrived on Monday, now these two releases will probably arrive tomorrow.

Link to Mondo Vision where you can buy dvds of his films:

I also love his work, SpiderBaby....I'm impatiently waiting for their Possession release, it's my favorite film (ever). Unfortunately, most of the Mondo Vision releases have become somewhat rare, including L'important.... so I'm really glad to have gotten them when I did. I still haven't gotten L'Amour Braque, though...still have to see that one.

Yeah, it was hard to stomach the younger sister's acting. The part near the beginning where she has the line like "you really want to start this right now," almost forced me to shut it off it was so off putting.

The one character I thought did a nice job was the friend with the fake British accent, she was the only bright spot to the film, imho.

I am not one to care much on packaging but this Godzilla release from Criterion, the packaging is truly horrible. I know the price is all about the care given to the movie but come on that packaging is really, really bad.

I thought it a bit tacky, with the "pop up book" effect. Plus it was hard to even get out of the slipcase.

I dont mind slipcase/slipcovers or even digibooks, but I think Criterion was trying to be a bit TOO creative on that one.

Yeah I can't see any room for improvement even the extras are very solid. I guess he wants to pay $15 more for the Criterion packaging and label?

There is plenty of room for improvement, they could start by not DNRing the whole movie! But that's not to say I want Criterion to put it out - it'd be much simpler if WB just reissued it without that stupid blunder. I'll probably end up importing the UK BD which sports a much more natural look, but I believe that is region locked so that isn't an option for everyone.

The original UK disc is region free (the one with no DNR but lossy audio)... I believe the newer disc with the same transfer and lossless is Region B locked.

DNR? Lol...wow yeah I need to stop posting in Criterion threads I can forget how nitpicky you guys can be. The video quality on this site has an average of 4.6 outta 5 from user reviews and I remember it looking fantastic. But oh well.

Regardless of what people say, it HAS been scrubbed of some detail... but not as much as, say Patton. Even the review mentions it's not as it was shot, which is how all blu-rays should be presented.

You can see a clear difference in the detail:

http://caps-a-holic.com/hd_vergleich...ess=#vergleich

While the US edition isn't bad, the UK disc with no DNR is better.

One of the first things I thought reading all this was---if Criterion actually did release it, imagine how badly their site would crash during one of their 50% off sales
