Haven't seen the Criterion dvd, but the Criterion blu-ray looks better than any other way I have seen those films before. The Vigo films are a must have.

Though I've only seen them once each, I also preferred Sanjuro to Yojimbo. I had seen the Leone remake of Yojimbo a couple times and I also wondered if that was a factor. Sanjuro I just found extremely entertaining, it's more fun than Yojimbo.

I saw a 70mm print of Playtime at the Museum of the Moving Image about a year ago and I must say that I really hated it. I felt it would have made a great short. I think the film probably made a great point when it was released about the negative aspects of post World War II modern culture, consumerism and architecture, but the strange thing about it is that it's almost impossible to find much modern architecture in Paris aside from the Pompidou center, as much of Paris still comprises of buildings from the Hausmann era. So while Parisians may decry the buildings that have been lost, as an American, I see Paris, like Munich, Barcelona and many other European cities, as being brilliant in what they have preserved or rebuilt.

I don't think Playtime plays very well today and I guess I don't care much for Tati's character. However, I think that if Buster Keaton had played his character, it could have been much funnier. No wonder the French love Jerry Lewis.

It's up to Cuaron to approve the transfer. Same for Fincher (THE GAME) and allegedly for Nolan (FOLLOWING).

Also, the next BN sale is in July.

Yojimbo I enjoy. Sanjuro too, but I'm a little cooler on it.
I had no idea that Marvin Gardens wasn't held in a better light. I put it 3rd best on my list, but those top 3 are no worse than great.

Kim's Video closed its doors in 2008, I believe.

Just looked and I see there's one left on 1st Avenue.

My backordered blus are about to ship on the 2nd, but looking at my funds I may have to delete a few just to make sure I have enough money in my account.

The ones I have waiting to be shipped are:

Berlin Alexanderplatz
Branded to Kill
Tokyo Drifter
Tiny Furniture
Breathless
Stagecoach

I'm thinking if I keep BA, I can get two others, or I can delete BA and just keep the rest. Thoughts or suggestions?

Don't know your tastes, but I'd stick with the first three. BA is the leader of that pack, for sure go with that one at least.

I think Tiny Furniture is easily lost, ymmv. I'm a big fan of Stagecoach and Breathless and I enjoyed Tokyo Drifter.

I think I will be getting Eureka's release of Ugetsu Monogatari by director Kenji Mizoguchi since it will also include Oyu-sama which I am willing to bet is the only way it will ever be on Blu-ray

I ended up going with:

BA
Breathless
Stagecoach

It was a difficult discion, but I'm sure this was the most wisest of choices.
