It was a difficult discion, but I'm sure this was the most wisest of choices.
Try to get the others at the next sale, they will still be available

I'm happy about this as well. This has become my most anticipated release. The only set back is the lack of extras but the lower price is good. Here's hoping Criterion releases The Cranes are Flying on a double disc blu ray like The Night of the Hunter with a bunch of extras to make up for it.

I'm glad I kept Berlin Alexanderplatz, but a little bit of me still worries it will be released on BD. I know people say it won't because it's on 16mm, but there are other films released on BD that were on 16mm (Texas Chainsaw Massacre). Someone on Facebook also told me a BD is almost inevitable since it was restored in HD in 2006. I don't know. Thoughts? Comments?

+1

Would be nice if they included some of his other works as well.

Everlasting Moments and World On A Wire from Criterion are both from 16mm sources. So is The Wrestler, Black Swan, The Walking Dead... Granted, most of those except That means absolutely nothing in terms of the quality of PQ. So the people who say that are embarrassingly spreading mis-information.

Terry doesn't seem that impressed with this release. Blu-ray.com's review states that this may be the best looking B&W BD yet from Criterion. (quite a different evaluation over at DVDBeaver)

The film is very impressive.

I believe Revanche and Monsoon Wedding were also shot on 16mm.

Heh, that was the first thing I thought too.

Well, actually it was the second.

The first was 'omgrosemarysbabysunsetboulevardthemanwhoshotliber tyvalancestalag17omgomgomg'

But it was a close second.

Sent an email a few days ago to Jon Mulvaney for a 3 Colors White replacement disc. No response yet.

Is he still managing those? Should I contact someone else?

I imagine he is confused. Trafic (one "f") is out of print. Traffic (two "f's") is not.

It would seem Criterion was pretty on the nose when they said the REDO orders for stuff that was backordered during the Valentine sale would go out around the 2nd.

I've been checking their site a few times a day (shut up, I know, I can't help it) and Godzilla, Belle de jour and Design for Living all appear to be back in stock.

I'm anxiously still waiting on my order to ship...it's estimating the 5th for me now . I was waiting until this past week for it, because one of my items was the Vanya on 42nd Street pre-order....but when my order still didn't ship, I realized it was because Tiny Furniture is now back-ordered, even though it wasn't when I made the order. So, I guess once they get that in, it'll ship...I hope....

Don't bother waiting for an email reply. In fact, it's not necessary to contact them first in order to receive the replacement disc. Just follow these instructions.

It's pretty hit-and-miss when it comes to receiving replies from Jon. They desperately need more staff to handle enquiries from the public because it seems as though Jon is doing it all.
