By no means do I know anything about the Spanish language, but isn't the masculine 'el' in Spanish the same kind of thing as the article 'the' in English? So, the translation of "El Norte" into English is going to be "The North," correct? If that's the case, then I wouldn't alphabetize the English translation under 'T' for 'The'... it'd be under 'N' for 'North'.

Yes? No?

CC
You are correct, however, I also file it under 'E'...for some reason when I think of El Norte I think of E...

Ok I got an update on the replacement cases.

e-mail to Jon Mulvaney

"I sent a payment for all nine replacement cases on December 20th. I was wondering if their was any progress regarding that order. My email is **********@yahoo.com and the paypal Transaction ID is #6D7183************"

Jon sent me a response really quickly

"Thank you for your email! I apologize, but we are currently out of cases. We hope to have more in stock within the next two weeks. Please rest assured that we have record of all the payments made and as soon as we receive more, we will be sure to send them out to you.

Thank you so much for your patience and understanding and for supporting Criterion!

Best,

Jon Mulvaney
"

So it's what we all assumed, but at least we know that we haven't all been forgotten.

Good to hear. So, I guess the assumption can be made that the demand for the replacement cases is much more than the quantities that Criterion places an order for. So, it seems that Criterion might want to increase their order quantities, if it's an option.

I love the BD case for 8 1/2 but that olive color in the early pics of the release look cool, It is fine as a grey/silver look also.

as for the replacement cases I think we have all ordered, I bet they are even surprised by how many people have ordered them. I know most people could care less, but it must have exceeded what demand they intially had for the cases.

according to the latest responses regarding the cases coming in within the next two weeks I am sure we should have our orders in the not so distant future. Seems like once they ship they arrive fast.

Most definitely! Being an alumnus of the great institution I felt the end my post necessitated a shout out for the Tide as they won yet another National Championship.

Still no word on my replacement cases though.

From the your writings, though, I could've sworn you were an Auburn fan, though, now?

+1

There is way too many damn posts about the replacement cases! No need to let us know each day or week that you haven't received your cases. Just e-mail Mulvaney. And here I thought I was among the most patient ones that didn't mind the posts...but it's starting to get overdone like Celine Dion's "My Heart Will Go On" or Whitney Houston's "I Will Always Love You" song when those songs first came out...

I would try Pierrot Le Fou or Chungking Express. Those are my current favorites from the current releases. I also like most of Wes Anderson's work so I also recommend Bottle Rocket. That's just me though.

You're welcome.

I just finished off ordering the last of the blu-rays I was missing using this Barnes and Noble sale. It makes the prices cheaper than amazon and about the same price as the 50% off sale. Can't wait til Che comes out. That will be my friends and my weekend when I get it.

As of yet I have not bought any Criterion on Blu-Ray but will be very soon. Can someone briefly explain the need for replacement cases that seem to be talked about so much around here?

I was also curious and this is what i found googling

https://www.blu-ray.com/news/?id=3538

Why the cardboard is a problem i could not tell yah. Packaging has always been of little importance to me, i am much more interested in the movie, and if i really like it, the extra's.

When Criterion began releasing Blu-rays they sold them in cardboard cases. A significant number of people didn't like the cases and eventualy Criterion switched to a plastic one. This leaves people with their collection in two different kinds of cases which bothers some people. To fix this Criterion is now offering plastic cases for the movies that were originaly only available in cardboard. There's no " need for replacement ", it's just a matter of taste.
