It's not that your dollar is shite, it's just that our sales tax and prices are higher.

For Example:

Movie is 9.99 at Best Buy, with 6% sales tax in Michigan
Same movie is 19.99 at Best Buy, with 13% sales tax in Ontario land.

Be thankful. Ontario's cheaper than Nova Scotia, who has 15% sales tax on their stuff.

I know you guys are all on in "The Last Temptation Of Christ" mode but I felt like talking about another movie (sorry nothing against Last Temptation but it just don't hold any interest for me. When I want to watch a movie about jesus I put in Jasus Of Nazareth or Jesus Christ Superstar)

Completed World On A Wire. I am no expert on New German cinema or in truth the entire "new wave" of movie of the period. I do enjoy some of them. World On A Wire as this slow pace dialogue that appeal to me in some of these scifi movies of that time. I had many a talk with people saying that a scifi movie does not need explosion, laser beams and whatever other gadget one would like to add to be a scifi movie. Did not know very much on Fassbinder until college (the cinema teacher at that time was nuts on the new wave cinema and we saw a lot of them) One thing that struck me while watching it as how good it was it's not a movie that would appeal to many since the image quality would probably send a few on this site into a catatonic state Overall it's a fine release.

I agree, most sci-fi movies, and no offense to Star Wars, usually end up like that. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy laser beams and other wonky sci-fi stuff, but a lot of the dystopic fiction I read, and much of it is classed as sci-fi, seems like it would be more interesting in film format than guys running around shooting off laser beams at giant robots. I prefer my sci-fi films when they're more "realistic," and I'm eagerly anticipating on receving World on a Wire in a few weeks.

/only exception was Harrison Bergeron, that movie was shite, and bastardised the wonderful short story it was adapted from. No offense to Samwise, but Harrison Bergeron was supposed to be good looking, and so was the ballerina he took up with. She wasn't freaking Josie Pye!

I only saw this movie once on The Movie Network. I did not hate but I knew nothing of the novel so maybe that is the reason. What I remember most was a young Hayden Christensen (Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader) having a role in it.

I'm bothered by it because I'm a huge, huge, huge Kurt Vonnegut fan. I've yet to see anyone do a decent job of adapting a Vonnegut short story/novel to film. Mind you, I haven't watched Mother Night nor Slaughterhouse-Five yet. Breakfast of Champions and Harrison Bergeron were horrid, but nowhere near as awful as Slapstick of Another Kind.

I don't know. Last I remember, we were talking about the Return of the Prodigal Son film on the Czech release and now his posts are gone (I have them quoted in my posts of those conversations).

I haven't been there in a while but that's still a great theater.

And it was invaluable in the days when you couldn't just pop in Repulsion whenever you felt like it.

Even world on a wire had
[Show spoiler]an explosion
though!

Did anyone else notice what appeared to be an untranslated line in the movie?

I'm a huge Vonnegut fan as well. Mother Night wasn't bad.

Re: Last Temptation, I'm gonna wait to watch it until i can have a Jesus film day.

Last Temptation
The Gospel of Matthew
Passion of the Christ (I own this but have never seen it)

Just waiting for Gospel of Mathew to come from Eureka!
