I was about to pass this along. I do not know about the local ones however. Mine in my neighborhood does not have anything but it might be different at other local ones

My copy of Letter Never Sent today. I can't wait to have a look at it but I probably won't get time tonight.

It means as much as the all the other titles available on Criterion's Hulu channel that aren't available on disc, yet. They may, or may not, eventually make it on to a physical disc format. However, we all know that the Chaplin titles will be coming, but we don't know when. The Gold Rush has been up on Criterion's Hulu channel for, at least, a year... along with City Lights, Limelight, The Circus, The Kid, etc. Criterion's just taking their sweet time about releasing them on disc.

Been on a shopping spree as of late, from Eureka mostly, but got The Last Temptation of Christ today.

Do they have The Third Man on Blu-Ray? I bet it gets "lost" all the time

I am ecstatic and hope that it gets released on blu very, very soon!!

Also, looking at some of the rest of the uploads, it feels like eventually we may see Kinoshita and Masahiro Shinoda Eclipse sets.
Agree on 2 English Girls, a great film

I have enough for one Criterion. I currently own:

Yojimbo/Sanjuro
8 1/2
Antichrist
Seven Samurai
Last Temptation of Christ

Any suggestions? I was thinking of getting Pierrot Le Fou while there's still copies floating around.

They should just do a full month release of Chaplin, 5 titles

How is the quality on those Chaplin titles? Are they visibly from a new master that Criterion has (ready for blu-ray)? Or is it just some old master that was already on DVD? (that I guess Janus became the new owners of)

Right, the only plus side would be not having people crying out in disappointment every month right after announcements.

Except for the fact that you'd hear all the complaints from people who want The Game. And some people who sadly still think that Silence of the Lambs is coming.

While I'm on the record with this, I'd really like to see them put out a copy of The Game...

It all depends on how diverse your film taste is . Looking at what you already have and trying to expand the selection I suggest the following titles:

Red Desert - One of the most underrated films in BD from CC. You will hear everyone talking about L'Avventura and L'Eclisse but this one is just as incredible and it already is in the Collection.

High and Low - You already have three Kurosawa so another one will not hurt, especially because it is something different from his (I still need to get this one for my Collection, don't know what happens to me ).

The Red Shoes - A really amazing title that easily ranks among the most "classic" Criterion films. I suggest this because you own 8 1/2 and Seven Samurai.

Army of Shadows - Something really different from what you own. My personal favorite Criterion BD release. If you don't get it now be sure to do so later on .

The Complete Jean Vigo - L'Atalante is worth the price of admission alone.

12 Angry Men - Incredible court room drama. The B&W cinematography looks stunning in BD. Great dialogue with lots of moral implications.

There, I am sure you will enjoy most of these films .

I've seen City Lights, Limelight, The Circus on TCM in HD and they looked ready to me. They had the Janus and the Mk2 logo before them, so they're probably using the same new masters from the UK blus but cleaning them up more + gathering and making supplements, hence the wait.

Decided to re-visit my Eclipse sets and started with Silent Ozu set.

The first movie in the set is from 1931 Tokyo no korasu (Tokyo Chorus). It's classified as a comedy and while it does have some comedic elements I think it's more of a dramedy in the way Charlie Chaplin would make them. The main character of the story is played by Tokihiko Okada (who would sadly die the following year of tuberculosis). Seeing what he feel's is unfairness at work when one of his co-worker is fired, he stand up to the boss and is also fired. Having a young family with three children he now most face the reality of the depression and finding ways to support them. Shortly after his young daughter get's sick and his wife was reluctant to bring her to the doctor because of the money but he take's her to the hospital saying they will manage. As they return home later and the young girl is now well, they now see that they may no longer have the money they once had but they have each other and seem even more happier then ever before. The theme of family which is so important to Ozu was already present and would be part of his classic movies he would make 20 years later. After meeting his old teacher (he is seen briefly at the begining of the movie) who is now retired and run's a restaurant, they start helping each other with the hard times. In the end his old teacher help find him a good job, a job made for an educated man like him.

Tokyo Chorus is a feel good movie even with all the dark moments place into it. People make do and help each other and mostly for Ozu, the family is all and if the family stand together, nothing will stop them. I could not recommend Tokyo Chorus enough.
