I thought I was the only one who cared about those stickers! Glad to know I'm not alone.

When I first started to collect Criterion BDs I used to throw away the sticker with the shrinkwrap, including the "Director Approved" signature ones. But, about two years ago, I started meticulously saving the sticker for each title I bought since that time.

So, to all you Criterion blu sticker collectors: You are not alone. There are plenty of us around.

It's to the point where, if a package arrives with the sticker damaged or missing, I'll automatically request a replacement of the item.

Attention Canada: AND EVERYTHING IS GOING FINE and GRAY’S ANATOMY are US only releases.
and yet, somehow, I think I'll sleep okay tonight.

Perhaps I just don't understand why they would only release certain titles just in the US?

This was a first day buy for me, but a two blu ray release of three movies sounds like Carlos and Fanny and Alexander all over again. I hope criterion will not make the same mistake

Certified Copy was also threatened to be a US only release but, nevertheless, it's available for pre-order on Amazon.ca

Wow. So you put the company you purchased the disc out the cost of a replacement shipment and a defecting out of a product because you have a serious OCD issue?

I really don't mean to slam anyone, but this site has way too many people who seemingly care more about the packaging/cosmetics of the packaging than of the reason the packaging exists in the 1st place (the film inside, without which there would be no slipcover or sticker to attach to).

I understand OCD is/can be a sickness, but honestly, things like this should be an eye opener to trying to curb or at least work on it.

I class anything from 1970 onward as modern/contemporary.

Haven't seen "Certified Copy" mentioned in a thread before. Quick note, for what it's worth, while the opportunity presents. I was excited at the prospect of seeing this! Juliette Binoche! the Tuscan countryside! Leisurely-paced character development! No Super Hero! What could go wrong? Well, plenty. Generally like to follow Thumper's advice and not say anything at all if I can't say something nice particularly commenting on a movie that some people are surely going to love, but just a word of caution to anyone who hasn't actually seen it~ think seriously about ordering this as a blind buy. This is one film that really does depend on individual taste and some are going to love it, and others less so.

I like to delude myself that I'm as sensitive to nuance and subtlety and as open to the limitless possibilities of interpretation as the next guy, but "Certified Copy" utterly eluded me. I found it contrived, too clever by half, self-important to the point of being annoying, structurally inconsistant and incomprehensible, and in the end having very little to say, despite that an enormous amount of time is in fact taken in saying it. I just gave up toward the last. Sometimes the effort to intellectually turn a pigs ear into a silk purse is neither justifiable nor worth the effort. Sorry Thumper!

Couldn't believe how much I enjoyed "The Naked Kiss". The second Kelly started singing sealed it for me.

I watched Pierrot Le Fou after that and I was shocked to see Samuel Fuller at the party. Gotta love it when things like that happen.

I almost posted this question last night, but then I thought that he might consider films by active directors as being contemporary. It is a bit more compelling than the seemingly arbritrary selection of post-1970 films.

Spidey...I finished World on a Wire and watched the first supplement with the interview with Gerd Gemünden...Excellant! I'll get around to watching Despair either today or next weekend. I'm now considering Berlin Alexanderplatz for purchase during the next B&N sale. My wife is familiar with it and hinted passively at it when the last sales were held.

Why glad? Does that makes it any less demented?

So after seeing the June releases and wanting most of them, when do you think Amazon or B&N is doing another sale?

I've been saving for a while just to get me a few Criterions.

That was the second thought I had...wonder if he thinks Douro, Faina Fluvial (1931) is contemporary?

Berlin Alexanderplatz is the fastest 15 hours you will ever spend on a movie, honestly. Break it up into 2-3 hours a night over a week, and after your finished, you'll be wanting more. Promise.

Hope ya get to Despair soon.

I wonder why the June releases aren't up for pre-order yet. They are always listed within about a day.
