The more important question is: will it really look that much better? I mean, no offense to Criterion, but the titles they licensed from Criterion really haven't been the best that they can bring, and their track record with movies shot on 70mm film (okay, in this case 35mm fed horizontally) also haven't been exceptional (Play Time and The Leopard, anyone?) So unless Universal gives them something much better to work with, I remain a bit skeptical. Hopefully I'll be completely wrong, though .

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh, I know what's been bugging me about it...

It looks like a calendar/newsletter clue.

That's not necessarily a bad thing but it just seemed a little 'off'.

It's a pretty great samurai saga. Wonderful 1950s color photography, great central performance by Mifune. The first film won an Oscar.

If the retoration done on it is as good as what they did on Seven Samurai, it will be a wonderful release for new comer to discover

It just aired on TCM a few months back. I DVR'd it but never got around to watching it.

Well, the red background with the white circle is obviously the Japanese flag, so the color is warranted to me.

Heh, it's been sitting on my DVR all this time too. It just never seems like the right time to watch it.

You need to watch it!

I wish I had more room on my DVR but I have to keep the habit of watching things quickly as I don't have the space to keep things for too long

Default The Gold Rush

I'm watching The Gold Rush on a DVD from Netflix and there is an annoying narration that has been added. Am I correct in assuming that the CC release in June will present the film without this narration? Anyone have any insights?
