Well now i feel silly. I didn't read the spoiler (Since i haven't seen The Passion of The Christ), hence my confusion. Sorry Brad.

Well, at least you did not reveal that Jesus Christ dies at the end of both THE PASSION and THE LAST TEMPTATION, did you? Oooops! My bad!

Wow, these guys are going to have your head P@t! I'm supposed to be the ******** who spoils everything, despite using the spoiler tags! Quit stealing my thunder!

The internet is no place for people who don't want to be spoiled, because either you spoil stuff anyways, or people are wondering why you're putting spoiler tags around stuff that's common knowledge.

[Show spoiler] we never walked on the moon, it was a giant conspiracy remember

Did you guys know that in Citizen Kane,
[Show spoiler]there's a bit where you can see through the eye of a cockatoo, thus revealing it was actually a process shot

That's very confusing indeed, since just about everyone else, including myself, has discussed Passion of the Christ without the use of spoiler tags, so you kinda already know what happens in the film, and therefore, don't need to waste your time watching it, as it really is a waste of time.

Any bets on what sort of July titles we're getting, before we go off the deep end here, and I have to start talking about the Monkees again, and run the risk of spoiling Head? I'm pretty sure that telling you all that
[Show spoiler]Micky Dolenz kills a coke machine with an Italian tank in the desert
ranks right up there with telling people
[Show spoiler] that Snape kills Dumbledore.
.

Ooops, I've spoiled that one twice now.

Surely, everyone naming the movie outside of the spoiler box is playing this game wrong.

I wasn't trying to be rude and I wasn't annoyed at all, was just letting you know that it's helpful to put the spoiler tag with the film you're spoiling. I opened the spoiler tag because I thought you were talking about The Passion still and since i've seen that, I didn't mind being spoiled. I'm sorry I didn't memorize your post from several pages back about The Hunger Games and instantly realise you would be putting information about it under a spoiler tag in a post about a completely different and unrelated film.

As for the book being out for several years, i'm not one to read books aimed at teenagers, unless I hear wildly great things about it from other adults. This book came out when I was working at a library and all I ever saw were children and teenagers reading it so I just assumed it was another series in the Twilight vein. When the movie came out, I read some reviews and realised I might be mistaken and decided I would give it a shot but since I don't visit cinemas anymore I was going to wait for the DVD.

It's not unacceptable to ask of you what I did. A simple apology or acknowledgement would have sufficed but instead your snarky reaction and multiple posts making fun of people not liking spoilers was just childish really.
Whoa, I think you are more upset about this that I was. I only responded in kind to the others who also posted a few. I think you're taking this thing entirely too seriously. I'm much more inclined to be snarky to you now than I was before actually, especially with the whole novels aimed towards teenagers. People are far too dismissive of things like that.

Quote:
"Critics who treat 'adult' as a term of approval, instead of as a merely descriptive term, cannot be adult themselves. To be concerned about being grown up, to admire the grown up because it is grown up, to blush at the suspicion of being childish; these things are the marks of childhood and adolescence. And in childhood and adolescence they are, in moderation, healthy symptoms. Young things ought to want to grow. But to carry on into middle life or even into early manhood this concern about being adult is a mark of really arrested development. When I was ten, I read fairy tales in secret and would have been ashamed if I had been found doing so. Now that I am fifty I read them openly. When I became a man I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up." - C.S. Lewis
So here's some childish snark for you, you're acting way more childish about this whole thing than anyone else because you're bothered by people joking around in this thread, and avoided a book series because you saw teenagers reading it. Too many people in this thread take what I say far too seriously most times.

My initial posts weren't meant to be snarky either, as some people still are bothered by being spoiled by films/books from years ago. I was simply stating that how I view a spoiler is a bit different than others. Also, it's the internet, and you were bound to be "spoiled" somehow.

Yes, spoilers in a thread like this one is a bit funny since we are dealing with decades old movies in most cases and in general very few of us do not know much about most of them. I am always trying to watch my words however to make sure I don't reveal too much in my postings, like when I have been doing little reviews of the Eclipse sets.

I'm not bothered by spoilers, because by the time I read/watch something, I've forgotten I've been spoiled anyways. It's also funny that my Hunger Games spoiler caused so much of an issue, when we have so many people giving blow by blow accounts, pun intended, of The Passion of the Christ, yet several people on here admit that they have never watched it.

There are a lot of things that don't fit into one genre, and often get dumped into sections they probably shouldn't be in. In my collections development class, we discussed how some libraries put Robert Crumb books in the children's section, because they were "comics." Again, people are too dismissive of things because of the way people market/categorise something. There's a lot of stuff that goes on in The Hunger Games trilogy that isn't exactly suited for a young adult audience. It's the same with the later Harry Potter books, those shouldn't be classified as children's novels. There are a lot of "classic" novels that people consider "adult," yet they were originally written for children.

Hugo's another fine example of marketing/genre issues. Most people thought that was going to be some fluffy little family film, when it's nothing like that at all.

Call me crazy, I thought Hugo was superior to Cinema Paradiso. I'm curious to see the extended version Nuovo Cinema Paradiso as it should flesh out some plot points.

In regards to Ozu, if Floating Weeds gets a blu ray release will it be coupled with the thirties version? I love criterion releases with multiple films.

I hadn't heard a single thing about The Hunger Games, film or books, until I saw a trailer with John Carter. Frankly, the trailer makes it look pretty stupid and dreadful, but I've heard it's not bad. Probably still won't get around to seeing it.
But, thanks for the spoiler tags - there's too many people not using them, even if they don't mean to spoil a film.
I really want to know as little as possible about a film after I've made the decision to see it.
Maybe this needs spoiler tags, but apparently Titanic was based on a real story: http://i.imgur.com/0sZn6.png

Does anyone know if Amazon.com are shipping Three Colors with the corrected White disc yet? I'm an international buyer and shipping the discs for replacement would be a nightmare.

I would assume so, since it was released on DVD as a set. I prefer the colourised, sound version myself, although the 1930s silent film is still good.

Careful, you're lowering yourself to my level, and are acting too childish for this forum.

Marketing and genre classification have become terrible these past few years. If the trailers don't spoil the entire film for you, the often make people think the film's about one thing, as was the case with Hugo, when it's not about that at all. I think it's because people look at a poster, or here a basic plot summary, and don't bother investigating things themselves. People are too quick to judge something based on poor marketing, and a cover.
