![]() To be honest, I think it doesn't matter if a film get a Criterion treatment, some fans are going to ruin it for the others. Check out the thread on The Artist, where fans of the film basically called people who said it was merely good and/or ok, uncultured schlubs who preferred films like Jack and Jill, and were to immature to appreciate the fantastic beauty of The Artist. However, that shouldn't prevent people from buying/enjoying a film. |

Godfather fans are pretty uptight too. Not to mention those who are fans of Wes Anderson, Christopher Nolan, Terrence Malick, or David Fincher films. ![]() |

Any chance Criterion might issue an upgrade of Wise Blood? I was just over in the book to film adaptation thread under the movies section, and mentioned that I'd like to see more Flannery O'Connor brought to film/TV, as Wise Blood is the only one I can think of.

Laverne and Shirley fans make the Bronies look sane. ![]() The internet is pretty darn scary in general actually, my friend once found a Wagner/Liszt slash fan fic while doing research for a music paper. Last edited by BohemianGraham; 04-10-2012 at 03:16 PM. |

Has anyone written an erotic story about the Guns & Roses guitarist urinating on a clone of himself? (Slash-slash-Slash slash fic...)

Here's a new Titanic spoiler someone's just informed me about.
![]() [Show spoiler] Sorry, someone just posted this on Fark, and I, being the child that I am, found it humourous. It's also getting us back onto discussing Criterion titles, because we can now argue as to which recent title that features both subjects of the photos, is the superior release. It's funny these movies were mentioned. While I thought Realm of the Senses was good, Fat Girl is one of a very few Criterion Blu's I've bought, watched, and sold. Maybe I'm missing something, but I thought the end was utterly pointless. If I had to rate I Spit on Your Grave, I would literally give it a 1 out of 10. I consider myself pretty open minded and do not have any problem watching graphic and/or disturbing moivies (Martyrs anyone?), but there was nothing to me about that movie that was remotely good. The acting was terrible, the dialogue was terrible, the plot was pointless, etc, etc. In fact, I'm pretty sure I watched this and Last House on the Left (1972) the same night and the latter seemed like a masterpiece after watching I Spit on Your Grave. I'm catching up...
Got to BRANDED TO KILL this past weekend and loved it. There's something about black-and-white crime films that just works for me -- be it noirs or stylish pieces like this one. I can see myself revisiting the film again and again. I can watch this kind of a film in any mood I'm in. I'll get to Tokyo Drifter next weekend. |
