If I had to rate I Spit on Your Grave, I would literally give it a 1 out of 10. I consider myself pretty open minded and do not have any problem watching graphic and/or disturbing moivies (Martyrs anyone?), but there was nothing to me about that movie that was remotely good. The acting was terrible, the dialogue was terrible, the plot was pointless, etc, etc. In fact, I'm pretty sure I watched this and Last House on the Left (1972) the same night and the latter seemed like a masterpiece after watching I Spit on Your Grave.
I had the exact opposite reaction. i don't understand the intense dislike for ISOYG, yet the admiration for LHOTL. to me it is the other way around.
none of the acting in either is stellar but imo the plot for ISOYG was actually very defined and the movie is actually very nicely paced and well done. LHOTL does for me what ISOYG does for you.

Re: Fat Girls ending....

[Show spoiler]supposedly the end of FG is about someone having finally selected her rather than her sister and or mother. not sure if that's accurate or not.

I just finished The double life of Veronique. I thought the camera work and colors were fantastic and Irene Jacobs was just stunning. I still wish more was done with the story. It was a very interesting concept I just kind of wish more would've happened with the narrative. Still, I enjoyed the beautiful photography and will be revisiting it soon.

Criterion hasn’t given any official hints for this month. Does that mean something big is brewing for July? Perhaps they’re trying a no hint month to gauge fan reactions. Or maybe they’re just getting lazy.

Can someone tell me if Kuroneko bluray comes with a slipcover? Want to make sure it matches my current Criterion collection

Received Godzilla today, pretty good transfer by Criterion especially with the water reflections looking so clear now - before it was a bunch of murky foggy water! Shame there's no stereo mix option Not very fond of mono. Would this sound better with tv speakers or home theater speakers? On my PC it sounds like my left speaker is struggling because its doing all the work whilst my right speaker is idle

Nope... unless if they are in a digipak-type case, they are in regular Criterion blu-ray packaging..

There wasn't an official hint for Down By Law, it was leaked by a third party.

Dammit! It deserves to have cardboard packaging! The listed Amazon.com picture makes it look like it does have a slipcover & then I saw some user photos next to it and figured they forgot to include it

See I wouldn't know this because I live in Australia I figured it was Criterion's standard packaging to have slipcovers after being treated with the Yojimbo/Sanjuro bundle collection, Seven Samurai & now Godzilla

That's what I loved about it, actually. The script is more dense and explains more, but Kieslowski took a Malick-ish approach and cut out much fo the "explanation" to leave it more mysterious.

Well I decided to email Jon Mulvaney about the White disc and the Carlos disc, he says the White disc should be packaged with any new purchase of Three Colors but Carlos will still have the original pressing for now. Regardless, he offered to send the two corrected discs to me tomorrow, even though I'm yet to purchase either. Talk about good service!

I guess I can see it compared to Malick. I really did like it though, I still have to check out the documentary shorts and dive into the supplements. I can already say this was a good blind buy, I definitely don't regret it.

Now you must see The Decalogue, if you haven't already.

The Double Life of Veronique is one of my top 5 movies. Any time I put it on, it sucks me right in. I don't think Kieslowski was too concerned with the narrative. The film was more about conveying a feeling or feelings.

Also, I agree about Irene Jacob. She was really stunning at that age. Be sure to watch Red (in the Three Colors collection) if you haven't.

So the Carlos discs are ready to be exchanged? I've been waiting to send in White and Carlos at the same time. They said they would send an email out when they were ready, but I didn't get one.
