Hey whbinder, I do that with my Criterions and will also this year will keep Kino and MoC once I start making purchases separately as well. As for Warner titles, I've started doing that with classics only...like the Warner Signatures.

I'm not sure if this has been discussed yet (I don't remember seeing it), but do you think Obayahshi's House is going to get a Criterion release (either dvd or blu ray) since Janus is taking it to different theaters right now?

You know, I just realized something...I ordered so much from B&N from the 50% off sale that I realized just now...there was one I did not receive (Dusan Makavejev: Free Radical - Eclipse). Ughh.... I wonder if its too late to do anything with customer service. I'm guessing it is.

UPDATE: Awesome customer service. They have a 14-day policy but because of the holidays and I purchased so much, they will send it to me. Yay! Lesson learned: If you tend to order a ton of titles, check your invoice!

to save space in a tiny condo? hahaha, not really my friend.

meanwhile, i took the linear 'book' (hardly called 'notes') from the Criterion BDs and those can't fit inside a slim case or the regular case. so this idea isn't going to fly anyways because of THAT reason (keeping all materials together). otherwise it'd work. benjamin button's linear notes works inside a double disc BD case.

i'm just gonna order the clear plastic cases from criterion =P. i hope they still sell them.

I know it's not a blu ray, but I just watched Kicking & Screaming for the first time.
Thought it was pretty comical, reminded me a lot of me & my friend's lives right about now, being 22 and nearing the end of college life myself.

However, I could not get over how absolutely terrible 90's fashion is.
Good Lord, it was so distracting, I felt embarrassed for them all just by looking at them.

In wonder what will be the new announcement Criterion will make today? I hope for some movies by Antonioni or perhaps the Leopard?

Yes or l'avventura - that would just be too good!

But as I believe I have stated earlier for me Andrei Rublev is the top - a fully restored blu-ray edition of the DVD version of the film that Criterion has earlier issued would be fantastic.

The Criterion Collection is a continuing series of important classic and contemporary films on home video. Our editions often feature restored film transfers, commentary tracks, and other supplemental features that the company pioneered when it released its first laserdiscs, Citizen Kane and King Kong, at the end of 1984. Ever since, Criterion has been working closely with filmmakers and scholars to ensure that each film is presented as its maker would want it seen and published in an edition that will deepen the viewer’s understanding and appreciation of the art of cinema.

OK I made a payment to criterion for these below films replacement cases today. I hope it wont take forever for criterion to send them. I only have Last Year in Marienbad and The 400 Blows but I ordered the rest just in case they stop providing replacement cases. If those movies come in new 14mm cases when I order them then these replacements will be spares.

I would love all three of his trilogy or even the fourth to be released on Blu-ray. I hope the "Red Desert" is true.... but L'Eclisse and L'Avventura, I would love on Blu-ray.

Remember, they watch the forums...so if you complain too much about not getting them, they will put you back in the bottom of everyone else. J/K

Jammed...I don't like the sound of that. Poor linear notes. As for the cases $5 each. Expensive for a single plastic case in my opinion but I had to do it once. You probably might get these quicker since they are just the clear cases and not the cover artwork that everyone else is needing.

You'll see 90's fashion in several other films released from Criterion..."Bottle Rocket", "Armageddon", "Chasing Amy", etc. 90's fashion doesn't surprise me as much as late 70's and early 80's. But was watching Chris Marker's "Sans Soleil" or even Teshigahara's "Antonio Gaudi" and didn't bother me all that much.

I'll probably put my Criterion Blu's together by themselves in order by spine number.
All my Criterions are in their numeric order - DVD's and Blu-rays.

Who are you telling? I hate that it is too, as well as Dillinger is Dead. They are HD transfers, so why not wait to put them out when you have time for a blu-ray release is my question. But I am super happy for Vivre sa Vie and I will end up buying the dvds of Dillinger is Dead and The Fugitive Kind.

RIDE WITH THE DEVIL - Cool! I wonder if Universal will license LUST, CAUTION to Criterion for Blu ray. The Import is sweet, but a Director's Cut with supplements would be cool.
