I finished resizing the Benjamin Button cover for a standard Criterion Blu-ray case. Here's a preview:

[Show spoiler]

If you plan on printing the cover yourself, here is a thread dedicated to printing custom covers: https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=95555. When printed, the cover should be 274.32 x 160.36mm, or 10.8 x 6.313 in. Feel free to ask me if you have any further questions.

EDIT: Added download link. You can download the full sized cover here: https://www.box.com/s/ef9941278e3ed01d5c4b

Hope this isn't the wrong place to ask this, but does anywhere know where I can download the audio commentaries for This Is Spinal Tap?

Quick question, but why does everyone detest Shallow Grave so much? I wouldn't say it's the best film in the Criterion Collection, but I enjoyed it far more than Trainspotting, which everyone seems to think is one of Boyle's best films. I also fail to see how it's anywhere near as terrible as people have made it out to be.

I am surprise, I did not think it was that much "hated"? I think it's a good movie but one of those that is sort of hard to watch once you have seen it.

Probably because it is a high profile release and not of the "first-time available anywhere" kind. I personally enjoy most Boyle films. He is an interesting director with fairly entertaining films. In fact, of all the "mainstream" directors working today (The ones with high-profile) I think I like Boyle the best. I am not all that interested in Shallow Grave right now because I have a HUGE priority list and so I am not going to get it unless it comes as a gift or something . I agree on Trainspotting, I liked it when I saw it but just in a good-like level. My favorite Boyle film is probably Slumdog Millionaire (I know, I know ). I just think it is a really entertaining film full of color and energy.

Agree. I thought Shallow Grave was actually "witty" in very darkly Hitchockian way...something I wouldn't normally associate with the typically glum, in-your-face Boyle.

I have really been enjoying Shallow Grave. (had not seen it before the CC BD came out a few weeks ago) An interesting look at greed and its consequences.

Yeah Slumdog is a great film. I thought that 127 Hours was brilliant as well.

Criterion should make cases like that for Seven Samurai and The Night of the Hunter, among others that have garbage cardboard packaging.

Aren't some of them like that because the booklets included are too big to fit in one of the regular cases?

Yeah, like Breathless.
I was referring to 2-disc titles. It seems that Criterion didn't have 2-disc plastic cases, until now.

While The Night of the Hunter could fit in the new 2-disc case jewel case, Seven Samurai and The Battle of Algiers definitely have books too thick to do so. (These are the only 2-disc digipak Criterion Blus I own to check on such matters).

I was surprised at this as well, and actually did find parts of it to be quite suspenseful.

I think it has rewatchability, but then, that's just me. It just seemed like last week was "let's pick at Danny Boyle! Why aren't people picking at Danny Boyle?" week, and this film seemed to come under fire quite heavily. I think Saul picked it up readily though, as to why:

This is the first time it's come out on BD in North America, other than imports from the UK and Australia, both which are region B-locked. I actually pre-ordered this title, as I try pre-order at least 2-3 Criterions a month, if they interest me, and I manage to grab them when the Canadian Amazon pre-order price is low. I just think it's silly when people bash something because they deem it too popular. How is Boyle really any different than Kurosawa or Melville? Not stylistically, but in popularity?

My issue with Trainspotting is that it's not as entertaining once you've read the source material, the film feels quite bare and lacking in comparison. Yes, I did manage to read Welsh's novel, despite the heavy Scots accent he used throughout the text, which was actually slightly more difficult than reading a Clockwork Orange, as there was no handy glossary at the back to translate.

It was. There were a few flaws, as it was not a perfect film, but the acting was well done.

At this point I wouldn't be disappointed if October was "slow".

I just sunk 2 bills on the Hitchcock set so it's already a busy month for me.

Yeah October is going to be really expensive and some titles may have to wait. with all the rumors of Criterion possibly releasing Foreign Correspondent I am prediciting Criterion will want to get in on the Hitch mania for the fall...

Foreign Correspndent
Rosemary's Baby
The Blob

and well I can wish for an upgrade for Vampyre can't I?

The only things for "sure" seem to be Rosemary's Baby and The Blob. I would like another upgrade or two. We got Harakiri last year and that was a quite "major" upgrade, wasn't it? It's probably going to be a "small" month. After discovering Criterion (With my purchase of their Red Desert BD) and starting to know the community I was excited each month for the possible outcome. Nowadays, I prefer to be surprised and hope for the best. In fact, I think I just got to understand why I have been somewhat underwhelmed the whole year with them. Last year, every month came with a title that made me excited but the rest of them sounded really interesting too and I blind-bought several. This year I felt different. There is the usual "significantly interesting title" for me but the rest of them don't interest me. Don't know why this is happening to be honest .

I finally gave it and rebought Band of Outsiders on DVD after selling it a few years ago, so I'm sure that upgrade is right around the corner
