361.

I was bored the other day and counted. That's the number of in print Criterion dvds that have yet to be upgraded to Blu.

Before today of course.

Yeah but this is exactly the reason that the major studios give for being so secretive about their plans. Would you rather we just heard nothing about what Criterion might be working on?

And though the speculation on titles is natural enough, doesn't that just add to the disappointment? Whatever they announce tonight, I'll probably be pissed off that THE TENANT isn't amongst them simply because I've been talked into a baseless belief that it might be.

Going for a training run. That should take long enough for the announcements to be posted by the time I return! I'll send out good vibes!

That was because they were having a sale at the time and no one could get any orders placed due to the high volume traffic, so they delayed the announcements to work on the site.

Xanadu or F off!

Edit: I wonder if 100 or so years from now when sarcasm is dead (like you can't use it anymore, Alphaville style), future humans will look back on internet posts in disgust.

In their defense, Valentine's Day was very close to the fifteenth this year.

Im "In the mood for.." Criterion to release titles that thousands of fans would love to own (Rosemary's Baby, Mulholland Drive) than *lesser known*(argueably) titles that will appeal to some. It doesnt bother me that Criterion releases all sorts of titles because everyone deserves to have their wish lists met, but I always feel that they need to have something for everyone. Since it is October I was hoping for some kind of horror or scifi genre release. Well if nothing else it saves me money if they dont deliver on something of interest.

Not sure if this is true or not, but if so... seems Ikiru probably won't be announced, as don't they usually only bring one previous catalog title to Blu-Ray each month?

They've upgraded 2-3 in a month before, IIRC.
