I think all except Badlands from what I have read. Warner does not loan out any films to anyone. They are probably most likely releasing it themselves.

A start would be:
Salo
Antichrist

I am not looking for a lot of commentary or reasoning just a list of films I would not want to come home and see the wife and kids accidentally putting in.
If you have trouble getting the kids to bed just pop in A Safe Place.

Hello,Mr.Troll.We are meeting again
These things take time (remastering/restoring,scheduling,etc.).They certainly wouldn't consider releasing all ten movies in a two or three months.Just see how long it took before they finally release The Game on Blu.Sunday Bloody Sunday have gotten a October release date recently, though. But,you knew this.
[Show spoiler]Now go,and keep trolling elsewhere

Just had something happen for the first time with a Criterion disc. Put in Shallow Grave and it won't play...the player just keeps trying to read it over and over. I have had this happen with bad discs in the past, but never a Criterion. Anyone else have a problem with their disc? Now I have to decide whether to try to deal with Barnes and Noble, which might be faster, or contact Criterion directly since I have confidence in their customer service.

That is something that as not happen to me since I got my Sony 360. You may be just unlucky and got a bad disc, which from what I know is pretty rare for Criterion, hope you can replace it

That's what I figure. The only other movie this has happened with recently was Ronin, and when I exchanged that the new one worked fine. I am not too worried about it...mostly just bummed that I can't watch it tonight.

Well, two of them have since been released and one was announced earlier this week.

If you believed that these movies had some intelligence and value to begin with why don't you just keep them around and have that conversation with your child when it comes up? Children don't need to be protected by making their world smaller; They need access to the whole world with an adult there to moderate and discuss things so they can form their own views and values. Children come to certain things at a certain age and they'll probably surprise you with their general lack of interest in your Criterion movies at ANY age .

Well put! SSoS is very precise. It's quick & edgy but not wild -- and like a documentary, we're a fly on the wall.

Great, great late night movie.

I've got to agree on that as well. Although, for some reason (and I know I'm alone on this), I really disliked all the films in that set (well, except for Head). All of them were just uninteresting to me.... not sure why.

On an unrelated note...at Barnes and Noble today I bought Down by Law, Crumb, The 39 Steps...annnnnd I also finally upgraded my DVD copy of Charade. It was the first Criterion disc I bought back when I was 13 .... I had seen it on television and really wanted to own it...and found out that edition was the best one available. It was really what made me want to see and get to know more films of the era, the first film that had done that for me.

Would Down by Law be a good blind buy? I was really intrigued by the premise.

Godfrey Reggio directly stated at an L.A. screening not long ago of the trilogy that he was working with Criterion on the blu-ray releases. Unless something drastically changed, I'd say that's a sure bet.

La Haine is a very interesting take on race relations and poverty in 1990s France. Having watched both the DVD and the blu in the last six months, I would say it has good rewatchability. However, I think 400 Blows is one of the best movies they have released on blu, so I would probably say you should get it. They're very different movies though, so it might depend on your preferences.

You hate ******* lead characters? Because with the exception of Peter, Micky, Mike, and Davy, the lead characters in alltge other films are *******s of some sort.

Don't feel bad, I'm not as enamoured with Easy Rider or the Last Picture Show as everyone else is, because that seems to be the main reason why people buy the set; they buy it for those two films alone.
